This whole daddy thing is incomprehensible to me. I guess it is good that Bushie isn't a female because he'd look to be type who would kidnap kids out of the maternity ward.

We need more Mad Men and less People of Walmart.

While I can understand the sentiment, in practice that may not be such a brilliant idea.

Mad Men includes Harry Crane.

Harvard taking up the #14 making-a-run mantle from Davidson earlier in the day.  up four at half despite being -4 in turnover differential

I've got UNM as a Sweet 16 team knocking off Arizona in the 3rd round and losing to Ohio State in the Sweet 16.  I've only lost one Sweet 16 team today, but I don't want to make it two.  Let's pick it up, Lobos!!!

this is why I always have had an aversion to getting heavily involved in the bracket thing, it leads to a perversion of the experience, where perceived and selfish self-interest trumps justice and Beauty.  case-in-point: at a high school party in '06 everyone was actively rooting for tourney favorite #1 Connecticut as upstart #16 Albany took a 50-38 lead early in the second half.

What's wrong with rooting for favorites instead of underdogs?  Unless I actively dislike the team, I'd rather see the teams who are actually good play in the later rounds.

this is fascism.

Another litmus test I'd have: You can't run if you support the outright repeal of any of the amendments in the Bill of Rights.

And before anyone asks, THAT INCLUDES THE SECOND AND THE TENTH!

Are there any prominent Democrats that support that?

I don't know, but we need to stop the problem before it starts.

How about an endless Augustan didactic novel? You know, like BRTD's Posting History; or, Virtue Rewarded.

I prefer Fielding to Richardson.  An Apology For the Life of Mr. Shamela Hamilton

Citing your damn sources is really not that hard.

No.  But the idea that you can 'say anything new' seems to me absurd.  Completely derivative is the only possibility for academic work.

What I used to do as a student was sit down, write a ten page paper in about one hour, from notions in my head, and then stick in 'citations' randomly throughout, crediting sources with things they hadn't said at all.

Considering Stockman's success comes from his being in the oil and gas industry and that he is not known for MENSA membership, it makes sense that he would believe something like this. What makes less sense is that he was elected.

Huh. I was thinking the next post would begin in 1960, what with the collapse of the Socialists and all.

That's considered as well. I as of yet have no "titles" for the post-1920 system, though it may become the "Socialist Era" of politics (1920-1956/60).

EDIT: Though it seems a bit strange to merely chop history into little two decade sections.

It gives me titles for the chapters of my Glorious Textbook Monopoly, which is heavily biased towards the Socialists.

"The Early Republic 1789-1796"
"Jeffersonian Democracy 1796-1824"
"Clay's Americanism 1824-1848"
"The Civil War, Reconstruction, and Republicans 1848-1872"
"A Government Divided 1872-1900"
"Progressive Republicanism Ascendant 1900-1920"
"The Era of Socialist Dominance 1920-1940"
"World War II and the Socialist Decline 1940-1960"
"The Modern System 1960-?"
-Atlamerican History, Jones Publishing, 1962

Oh, my corporation is named the Glorious People's Workers' Democratic People's Corporation (Approved By God Himself [here we have a picture of an R-MI avatar giving a thumbs-up]) For The Education Of Our Most Precious Resource, The Children, And The Moral Edification Thereof, Inc.

Just a tip for the future.

I am an openly gay male, I live in San Francisco, and I oppose gay marriage at the federal level.

I fully expect that this was one of the rejected cards for Let's Make a Date or Party Quirks on Whose Line Is It Anyway.

I think he would have preferred to switch places with Barney.
It would have been more appropriate given their respective mental capacities.
