Which Senate Republicans would vote to confirm him?

A great deal. Considering that a great deal have worked with him personally. At least all of the Republicans who worked with him regarding the Law of the Sea and probably a few who didn't.

All of them, I would hope.

Though it better not result in the recently defeated Scott Brown winning the special election for his seat...

I really doubt he'll nominate Kerry so it's a moot point (IMO Susan Rice is a likely pick), but IIRC sitting Senators nominated for cabinet jobs almost always get strong bipartisan support from their colleagues.

I've been thinking about that too so I'm hoping Brown just decides to run for governor.

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

Don't inflict him on us in an executive capacity.

You guys are gonna have to take one for the team and let him be your governor for a few years to keep him out of the Senate. It's the least you could do to make up for electing him in the first place. Tongue

Fair enough, I suppose. The fact that he'd almost undoubtedly be governing with a Democratic supermajority in the General Court does admittedly make the medicine go down just a bit. Then again said Democratic supermajority can act as if they were the worst kind of 'moderate' Republicans on occasion as it is.

Only two opposed HRC for SoS, so probably something similar (though the most conservative/partisan Republicans would vote no).

Oy, I'm worried he could win if he runs, too.

I'm guessing Obama isn't a huge Kerry fan at the moment.

Then I will move to Canada immediately.  But I'm not so sure that Obama will win or Scott Brown will lose this year.

You'll really move to Canada if Kerry is nominated for Secretary of State?

Aren't you like 15? You're really going to somehow move to Canada on account of who becomes Secretary of State?

He does live in Michigan... We are just a bridge away!
With Canada trending more conservative though it might not be an unpleasant experience.
We Already have a lower corporate tax rate than the states, and if you come to AB you can enjoy a 0% provincial sales tax and a mere 10% flat income tax Smiley

In all seriousness though I'm also not expecting Kerry to be SoS.

No, Vosem is the one who's 15, I think.
