Do they think that they are gonna win the election by blaming the media and the polls? It didn't work out for them last time. I tried watching Fox for the first few seconds and "The Five" was on and all they did was complain about polling and act like Romney didnt do anything wrong so far in this campaign. Are they really that crazy or are they secretly scared out of there minds?

I'm watching some of the GOP surrogates spouting the new talking point... 'Obama is lazy and a false president'... how completely and utterly pathetic...

I think a lot of them, particularly the talking heads, really are delusional. They've bought their own propaganda. And like the leaders of the old Soviet Union, while they may intellectually know that they are disconnected from reality, they have no idea how to reform their own party back into something rational.

While there are exceptions (I expect Karl Rove to spend his PAC money wisely, for example) the vast majority are in their own private universe.

The Conservative movement has basically spent a generation now building and existing solely within their own bubble, where they only listen to each other, only talk to each other, only listens to religion against science, only watch Fox News, only read the books the Conservative business empire puts out, and now, only apparently want to listen to their polls. It's become a movement that openly denies reality simply because they don't like what they see; it used to be funny, but it's gotten kind of sad and dangerous.

The liberals have their own blogosphere like the DailyKos, Huffington Post, New York Times.  What's the point of this thread again? More bashing of conservatives and alternate point of view?

There's a difference between interpreting facts in a different way, not exactly helpful but understandable. But the creation of NEW facts and alternate realities... is something new and dangerous. Bubbles on either side aren't good for the polity.

Saying it's just that the polls are off is beyond pathetic, and I can't understand why they would think that puts their supporters at ease. However, the polls have definately been more confusing this time around, it seems that personal agendas have gotten in the way of professionalism.

Well, yes, that will be the next political bubble to burst after the current conservative one since the majority of its followers have agglomerated into geographically isolated areas and rarely interact with the more conservative outside.

But yeah, Marokai has a good point here about the Republicans' problems. We've reduced ourselves too far to bumper stickers and cliches and have forgotten the value of explaining to people why our policies would be good for the country. The conservative movement in the US has become intellectually lazy, resorting to opposing too much instead of trying to lay out an alternate vision. And often on the things we do oppose, we prefer to spew axioms instead of telling people why it would be bad. Fox has slowly become part of the problem over the last 4 years too. It was always a pretty right-wing channel, but at least in the Bush days it was defending something instead of constantly on the attack. I think Romney somehow winning would help tremendously since we would have to be supporting something again.

Guys, Romney has had a really tough life. He was born to a poor family, and can barely support himself. You all should feel sorry for him.

There were plenty of republican candidates with a positive message, solid values and a vision for the future of America. Sadly - you chose Romney instead who has none of these things.

Yes. Huntsman was right about fearing the GOP would be the party of anti-science.

The main problem with the GOP right now is that they are on the wrong side of history. In an increasingly globalized world with ever increasing educational levels, you can't expect to win elections by denying science and demonizing everyone who isn't a typical "old-fashioned" white american. Well, maybe you can win SOME elections using that approach but its gonna bite you in the ass in the end. With each year passing its gonna be harder and harder to win with that approach.

Fixed.
