Since they are gaining power and there is widespread debate.

There's no doubt they at times praise nazism or even deny the holocaust. I'm not sure they are Neo-Nazis, but they certainly are following in their steps. They have popular support from police and are making inroads with the poor. They blame the country's problems on all foreigners (in place of Jews) and are highly nationalistic. I'm not sure they could yet classify as fascist though since I don't think they have the backing of major corporations/a want for government and corporate greece to merge, but I haven't read too much about them.

Watching them is interesting. While many would think it odd or impossible for such an organization to take control of a government, I think it is possible here. Greece is in economic chaos, there is great potential to rally behind nationalism/xenophobia, there is legitimacy problems in the national government as perceived by the public, the poor and the police are powerful political allies to have...
Then again I recently watched "The Wave"

Well, yes Golden Dawn is Neo-Nazi. Their leader literally did the Nazi salute his first day in Parliament, and has mentioned more than once how much he likes Hitler. Combine that with rampant violent rhetoric and xenophobia and a pledge to not give in to outside forces that want austerity for Greece, it's pretty clear that the Golden Dawn is the modern Greek form of Nazis.

The only thing in question is the 'neo' bit.

For all the times the term neo-nazi has been improperly used, this time it is more than deserved.

Are you proposing that the Golden Dawn exists only in a parallel universe where it is still the 1940s and the NSDAP still exists?

I'd rather have them in power than one of the neoliberal parties.

Racism, violence and authoritarianism is better than neoliberalism?

Stop trolling.

This. A lot of groups (despite having extremely reprehensible agendas) like PVV and the FN are unfairly accused of being Neo-Nazis. It is quite fair to accuse Golden Dawn of being Neo-Nazi.

I think he did weeks ago, with his crazy rant vaguely related to the Assange case.

For everyone's sanity I hope you drank a lot before you posted that. You can't simply have a revolution to overthrow fascists, like you can with neoliberals Tweed.

not sure what this means.  if anything, the Revolution is more difficult under the neoliberals as they have made their reality profoundly apolitical and ahistorical while perpetrating their crimes outside of the ruling ideological confines.  the crimes are not bragged about, as they would be under a more traditional far-right, but simply not discussed.  a move towards overt totalitarianism in the fallen zones of late capitalism would move history forward at a quick pace, drawing us out of the false lull we're stuck in now, and with climate crisis, nuclear proliferation, etc. knocking on doomsday's door the current track is all but spent.

unless everybody's position is that intelligent life is an evolutionary error, doomed to fail and do so quite quickly, and not worth trying to save, all that's fine, but you all should state it more clearly.

That depends on how you define "Neo-Nazi", and on no other factors whatsoever.

Lenin's Tomb is actually a rather respected blog (well, in as far as anything called a 'blog' is ever going to be respected).
