Obviously Ben Cardin is going to win a second term without much difficulty, but I read somewhere earlier this morning (here's a link now: http://www.nbcwashington.com/blogs/first-read-dmv/Independent-Candidate-for-Senate-Gaining-Ground-in-Maryland-171882501.html ), that suggested there is a very serious contest going on for second place between Republican candidate Dan Bongino and independent Rob Sobhani (who previously lost Republican Senate primaries in '92 and '00). Does Sobhani have a shot at coming second?

Very possible. The Republican isn't even trying at all while the independent is a self-sufficient millionaire who is on the airwaves

I kind of like this Sobhani guy, he seems like a reasonable type for a fiscal conservative businessman. Cardin may be liberal, but ehh, he seems a little too cozy with financial interests and the SOPA/PIPA types. Plus, he's been in government (state legislature, then US Congress) for about 45 years now. That's way too long. I think I'll change my Senate Endorsements map if Sobhani becomes a choice.
