There was a great opportunity to primary the clown. The dems failed to do so.

They did, but a majority of RI-01 democrats still like the guy, even if his approval is just over 50% with them.

And only 65% are supporting his bid for re-election. He's being saved by the fact that independents are only breaking modestly for the Republican, instead of the 2:1 superbreak a New England Republican needs to win.

The upsetting part is that Rhode Island Democrats put the fix in here. They made this district far more Democratic than it was before to bolster Cicilline in the general, and then made it very clear that a primary challenger would not be tolerated.
