I would like to keep on being Legislator for the South before taking any higher responsibility. Plus I just finished moving, so I'm still in a bit of a cardboard wonderland at my place, so it will still be a few days before I can spend more time here.

Well from what Oakvale just said, I guess he really is close to our views. What does Sbane advocate ? What party is he from ?

Hey comrades. Time for a little debrief of the elections. We had a solid showing in the Presidential race, where our 3 candidates made it to the last round. The South is now our stronghold, where Snowdalgo hit 65 % (!!!), hitting also a sweet 40 % in the Mideast. We only got a quarter of the votes in the other three regions, but we have otherwise no real weak spot.

However, we lost a Northeast MP, and failed to gain the one we hoped for in the South, even if it was a bit of a longshot. With our voter registration soaring in the South though, I think one of our main goals should be to get the most out of our positions in the South. There is an upcoming election as Speaker of our IDS Legislature, and SJoyceFla declared. I liked Jbrase, but SJoyceFla is much more complicated to work with, and I fear a little when he'll have the hand on the Assembly's agenda... We have 2 Bloc MPs, 2 Labor, and Duke. I just saw this instant that Griffin declared as well. So we'll have to seduce Duke to have the seat. I don't know Adam if you really want this office hard or if it's just in order to give SJoyceFla an opponent, but if it's explained to me by previous holders I would be ready to run for Speaker myself.

I'll let our comrades from other Regions do their own debrief.

I'm proposing to join our Vice Chairman in the Committee that will establish this platform, if he judges me fit for the work.

I also think we should take a real look at the figures of the recent election to see our real potential in each Region and therefore for each position that will be up for election in the coming weeks and months. We need to function as a Party a bit more seriously and frequently, and to establish a proactive strategy for these kinds of things : who can run for what, for which purposes, with which campaigning workforce and prospects, etc.

If we're going to have kittens, I know a Snowstalker and myself who will be demanding that we have ponies too...

On the serious side, I like the idea of establishing pillars of the Labour party, like 10 pillars on ten essential issues. After that, we could on the long term create a more furnished document with the Party's program of government when elected.

I still don't know if I'm competent to help in establishing this platform, but if I post enough, I guess I will be. I would like to hereby ask our Chairman if he thinks that the Labor party of Atlasia could and should apply for membership of the Socialist International. Being part of an international organization is a valuable asset to foster our international policies, to see how things are thought and done in other countries, contexts, similar or different, that we can learn from.

Here is, below, the Ethical charter of said International. I believe our Party could easily fit inside its frame. Then, it could serve as a base to work our platform. Other question, should our platform be a kind of "campaigning programme" stating in a somewhat precise way what we're gonna do when we get elected, or should it be more of a "declaration of principles/manifesto" stating what we believe in ? I would be more in favor of the latter, with the possibility to extract some topics and solutions to them in the context of campaigns.

I am currently browsing manifestos from the Labor Party of the UK and the French Parti socialiste, of several time periods, and seeing what we can do. The Socialist International also has a declaration of principles that is a hundred points long, I will look into it too.

I think there has been a consensus here on joining the Socialist International. I propose our Chairman refers to the GM to request membership of our Party to this international organization. I don't see how we could achieve the goal otherwise. If the Chairman would like to, I can refer to the GM office myself since I made the proposition on the first place.

Well the elaboration committee hasn't been officially appointed as of yet, and while I had started to work on the thing, I had holiday then sh**tload of stuff at work IRL, so I didn't get further with it.

When I have time, I'll try to come up with something, whether I'm in that committee or not. But then there's the biathlon season starting on Sunday so... Cheesy

Also, I would like to ask our GenSec to make up a voting scheme for the next At-large Senate election : we are running two candidates, and I think it is of the utmost importance that we get both elected, as the forces of reaction are in movement here and there. So we have to be very specific and clear to our voters on how they should vote to get this result.

We should set up a thread titled in capitalized letters a few days before the election opens, and maintain it saying at any time how the next Labor ballot should be cast. And, by the way, when is this election coming up exactly ?

Hey all, I'm just reporting in after a loooong winter break when epic things happened and what not and that kept me away from Atlasia longer than I thought it would. I haven't forgot that I am a part of the platform committee, and I will work on that this following weekend.

When is our convention starting ?

I would like to announce the founding of a Cultural Marxist caucus within the Labor Party.
I would like to announce a split of said caucus and the foundation of the Bretzelite Cultural Marxist caucus within the Labor Party.

I would have an interest in running for Vice Chairman, but that would mean three officers from the South if I got elected. Cheesy Plus I'm sure Gass will do the job perfectly.

So I endorse the three candidates thus far.

Hey comrades. I'm taking a leave from my offices in Atlasia for the time being. That means mainly two things :
- you'll have to assign someone else to the Progressive Caucus Board, which I never actually joined, shame on me...
- you'll have to find someone to run to replace me in the regular IDS election in mid-May. Alfred had the intention to enter IDS politics, maybe it would be a good start ?
- potentially, we'll have to find someone fit for Speaker. I actually think Velasco would be qualified to be Speaker if he wants to. If he doesn't, then Dereich or Hash could do the trick.

Yeah, that's three things. Suck it. Wink

Whereas summer is coming, and means quite less work in my line of RL business,

Whereas the only co-worker I had in my office stops working here from tonight on,

Whereas I am consequently going to have a bit of RL time to dedicate to Labor work,

And finally, Whereas with Griffin's and Seatown's retirements, we ought to keep the voice of the South in our Politburo,

I hereby announce my pplication for Labor Party Vice-Chair.

Well, I have respect for TNF, you can check that I even first-preferenced him to be Progressive Caucus leader. But that's the point : would that not be too many jobs for him ? Think about his sleep, his rest, and if you value them, give this one to me. Wink

On a more serious note, I can't say I have been a very reliable Atlasian office-holder in the past, participation-wise. My periods of presence and activity speak for themselves, having been senior Labor IDS Legislator and Speaker for a while, developing theories and principles on game reform, ecology and employment for example. But I also have had my share of spotty activity or plain inactivity. However, it's the reason I'm running for Vice-Chair and would not dream about running for GenSec or Chair : these need constant activity that I know I cannot reliably provide, but I know I can motivate myself to do platform-work around our conventions, and even step up to replace the Chair from time to time.

Plus we really need someone from the South, cause it's a bit "double or quits" for Operation Cottonfield right now.

I think we ought to renew our whole delegation there. Griffin should open a separate ballot with three slots for the remaining board seats ? I am a candidate again by the way.
