It's looking more likely. Another shell fell in Turkish territory and Turkey's firing back again: http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking-news/ci_21705404/activists-syrian-warplanes-pound-homs

The Turks really don't want to. Inevitable war stories would tarnish Turkey's image abroad bringing the whole Ottoman thing up again. Also, Erdogan doesn't want any complications in his plan to redo the constitution and become President and war is a pretty big one. They could still be dragged into it, but I don't think its at that point yet.

At most, Turkey might invade to establish a buffer zone to keep stray shells out of their territory and/or set up refugee camps on Syria's side of the border instead of their own, but they certainly ain't marching on Damascus or even Aleppo.

Looks like the neocons have their back door to war with Iran that they've been looking for for years.

I have the unpleasant feeling, that regardless of the fact that Turkey doesn't really want a war with Syria, far too strong forces have an interest in such a war for it not to happen eventually.

I would like to see your argument that the "bitching" of antiwar activists has a more detrimental impact on your life than the costs of foreign interventionism.

So... if Turkey goes to war with Syria, Iran goes to war with Turkey, but if Iran goes to war with Turkey, then NATO gets involved.

So NATO vs. Iran + Syria?
