Something I'm pondering...

I haven't done any campaigning so far this election, mostly due to being busy with other things, but I'll have a lot more free time between now and the election and plan on getting active again. In 2008 and 2010 all my canvassing was in Minneapolis, which made sense at the time since the big goal was getting max turnout there to get Franken and Dayton elected respectively. But this year Klobuchar is coasting to a win, and Obama has Minnesota pretty locked up. There isn't any race that would benefit from increased Twin Cities turnout, except the amendments. Obviously boosting turnout in Minneapolis is key to defeating the gay marriage ban, as well as the voter ID.

But on the other hand, I really want to take back the legislature, and there's tons of swing seats in the suburbs around here. GOTV here is more important for that. It also would obviously help defeat the amendments since the Democrats there would be voting against them, but suburban canvassing and GOTV isn't like Minneapolis where you can just lit drop everywhere and full of hipster-looking people you can just talk to and know exactly how they'll vote if you remind them of same day registration.

The third option is to head up north to a place I haven't really gone to before to help defeat Cravaack. I've never spent much time in Duluth or northeast Minnesota, so it'd be fun, and maybe even worth the gas money since I'll have a lot of extra cash once a few upcoming fat checks come in. However there aren't any real competitive state legislative races there, and while the type of people we'd be turning out in where I'd likely go would likely be anti-amendment, the same caveat applies as the suburbs applies (OK Duluth has a bunch of hipsters too, but obviously the canvassing there would be better left to locals who know the area.)

So thoughts? BTW my request for time off for the day has already been denied, so I'll have to be using a sick day, which I will obviously.

Take back the Legislature, of course. More important than a couple amendments and a Congressman who's actually a pretty decent guy.

To the polls, obviously, you law-breaking ballot stuffer.  It was convicted felons doing that that got Franken selected not elected in the first place, anyway.

Troll.
