Buenos días, fellow Midwesterners!

As many of you know, I've never run for any office before. As a newcomer, I'll fight hard for the sanity of the Atlas. Only with sanity we can make this country grow.
I'm not a career politician (like my opponent Kal =P), I'm not ambitious at all, and my main purpose is to renew Midwest politics. We need a new leadership, we can't give up. Elect me and you won't regret!

Here you have my main goals:

1- Sanity is the only way to move forward.

2- The Midwest has to come back to the good old days if we want to move forward. That's way I propose a renewal based on the old days, when we were one of the most (if not the most) active region in Atlasia.

3- I'll not add "Senator" to my display name, because, as I've said before, I'm not a career politician and, if I'm elected, all of you, including those who will not vote for me, will be senators.
3.1. I'll read all your opinions (if you want to share them with me) before voting, because general interest is over party ID, in my honest opinion.

4. As a environmentalist, I'll protect our wonderful landscapes from the wild constructions which are destroying them. Any Pipelines will cross the Midwest region if I am elected.
4.1. I'll bring renewable energies to the Midwest (wind energy in the north, solar in the south), creating +500K jobs during my term as Senator.
4.2. Cooperation with our Governor will be essential to rebuild a sustainable environment in our marvellous Region.

5. I'll push for a Defense Cut in order to lower our National Debt. Schools need our help. Useless wars can wait.
5.1. Switzerland is an example to us all. Education comes first. Military spending comes last.
5.2. Public Health care and Education are the base of welfare. This candidate will not tolerate any cuts on them.

6. We need more cooperation with the European Union, UNASUR, Africa and India:
6.1. I propose a "Marshall plan" in Africa. That will help create American jobs abroad and create a path of prosperity in the African continent.
6.2. I want to improve our relationship with Turkey and Egypt in order to stop radical Islamism. 6.2.1. Atlasia should support Turkish candidacy to the European Union.
6.3. In my opinion, India will be the 2nd most powerful economy in the World (only after us) sooner than later. We can close economic deals with India, and we should. China will destroy our industry if we don't search for new powerful allies. That's way we have to close deals with Mexico, Brazil and Argentina, too.

7. This candidate is pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, but anti-affirmative action. Equality means freedom.
Affirmative action was a good idea, but we don't need it anymore.
Gays deserve the same rights we, heteros, have.
I support abortion till the 3rd month.

8. Finally, but not less important, I'll try to spread direct democracy. I fully support open primaries and referendums.

9. In order to create jobs, I'll push for bills that will improve our infrastructures or will build new ones. This, combined with the renewable energy bill I want to introduce, will lower our unemployment, a lot.

10. I'm more moderate (even if my PM score says otherwise) on economic issues. As the newcomer I am, I'll ask for your advice, fellow Midwesterners, every time I have to cast a vote about economy, and will choose the position which best fits your opinions and Labour Economic stances at the same time.

Thanks,

JulioMadrid

Would a career politician decline so many opportunities as I did many times? Tongue

Thanks, mr. President, and thanks y'all Wink

My position on legitimate rape? I don't understand what a legitimate rape is. I'll have to ask Todd Akin what it is. Can anyone give me an example of a legitimate rape?

On abortion, as I wrote above, I'm pro-choice.

Now that Kal isn't running, will I run unopposed, or what? Sad

Querido amigo, if you want to go back to the good old days you should know that looniness is the hallmark of what they were!

Good lord were they ever...I mean, we didn't even have normal named states the first time I was around here in like '06-7, and that was just the beginning of the great Midwest's craziness. I see that in the latest constitution the state names are still the same. Smiley

As for your campaign, Julio, I wish you the best of luck! No time more exciting than the beginning of a career!

6.2. I want to improve our relationship with Turkey and Egypt in order to stop radical Islamism. 6.2.1. Atlasia should support Turkish candidacy to the European Union.
I have nothing against improving our relationship towards Turkey or Egypt.
However, I'll only endorse you if you subordinate this EU Turkish candidacy to their acknowledging guilt in perpetrating the Armenian Genocide of 1915 as a state, and dealing with the rights of the Kurd minority within their boundaries. It's a sane condition to make, as it's the ones the EU Parliament itself is establishing.

Other than that, endorsed, and best of luck ! Smiley

Well, I thought the Midwest was more active two years ago than it's now... It seems it wasn't Sad

Of course I think the Kurd minority should be protected, and, if necessary, the new state of Kurdistan ought to be created (but I think they can remain as part of Turkey-Iran-Iraq peacefully in the future).
And acknowledging the guilt is something Turkey will do sooner or later if they want to be the 29th state in the EU. If they don't, Iceland will take their place Tongue.

(Btw, a Kurd de facto state has been established in northern Syria for the last months by the Damas regime to piss off Turkey and create a buffer border zone, but that belongs elsewhere in this forum)
