Mainly becuase of the low expectations that he gets for this one, that a. there is no way to tie and b. He'd have to lose pretty badly to lose this one.

I'm recommending to Obama supporters to mute your expectations to a draw unless you want to get disappointed on Tuesday.

You'll be happy if you keep your expectations a little lower, but if you keep them high you're going to get frustrated and be all pissy the rest of the night because he didn't deliver the knock out you were so sure he would.

More than anything Obama needs to look well rested and happy to be there this time, even if he really isn't (especially since it's a town hall debate).

Of course there is a way to tie. Statistically its been the most common results of debates.

Tie in debate is net improvement for Obama, but the debate is still a tie. You're talking about the repercussions of a debate not it's actual winner or loser.

yes, but in my opinion, the goal of winning a debate is the repercussions amoung voters etc. so when I say there is no possible way to tie, I mean that the only way to get a status quo is for Romney to win by a slight margin, but that isn't a tie, its a win for Romney, so.

You just contradicted yourself. Essentially what you just said is that if Obama ties in debate performance it's Obama win because you're looking at repercussions. If Romney wins by a slight margin it's a tie in repercussions, but that's a Romney win--which implies that you're now looking at the debate performance itself(said because you wouldn't cast a vote for Romney in this poll).

Which is it? Are you looking at the repercussions or the performance itself? It can't be both.

Me personally I'll define it this way. The flash polls will have them within 10 pts = tie. At least that is quantifiable. It's the most likely outcome.

Unemployment 7.8%

Jobless claims at a nearly 5-year low

Housing Market on the rise, foreclosures hitting bottom

And today, Consumer Confidence is back to pre-recession levels.

And yet, Romney STILL has an edge, seriously.

Probably a tie. Obama is not and never has been a great debater. There's no way he will be any worse than the first debate. I'm sure he will be a bit more aggressive but Romney will probably be on his game too. I imagine the Democrats will claim Obama crushed Romney and the republicans will claim Obama lost and nothing much will change. I say this because I have no confidence in Obama's debating ability. He isn't Joe Biden.

Even if Obama gets a standing ovation and Mitt Romney cries like a little girl, the GOP will claim victory. It's just how they operate.

Kind of like when Stephanie Cutter immediately called Biden's debate performance a "decisve win," right?

I called Joe Biden winning and polling has him somewhere between a tie and a modest victory. So he did fine. Although not as well as I expected.

I have no confidence in Barack winning. In fact, I'd even be surprised and disappointed by a tie. I fully expect somewhere between a tie and a moderate Romney victory. And a crushing blow dealt to Obama in the 3rd debate. Obama ain't Ryan. Or Biden. And he definitely ain't a Romney.

I'm torn because it's a town hall setting with absolutely idiotic questions sure to come their way.

I'm thinking Obama will come back swinging.

If he does that in a town hall debate he loses.

God doesn't anybody actually understand the key differences between the debate styles. You can't hit at your opponent in a town hall style debate like you can on the podiums. You're talking almost exclusively directly to the audience.

Town hall debate relative to the other styles is more about telling the American people why they should vote for you instead of why you shouldn't vote for the other guy.
