WASHINGTON -- Here's an X-rated endorsement you're unlikely to see touted in any campaign commercials: People in the adult entertainment industry strongly support President Obama over Republican Mitt Romney.

Those are the results of a poll of 339 respondents by XBIZ.net, an industry social network. The poll found 68% of people in the San Fernando Valley-based porn industry said they would like Obama to win the election, compared with 13% for Romney.

Fourteen percent said they preferred "someone else" and 5% said they didn't care.

But the Obama campaign is unlikely to do any dancing over the results of this poll.

Steven A. Hirsch, chief executive of Los Angeles-based Vivid Entertainment, said the porn industry's support for the more liberal candidate makes sense.

"The results aren't really surprising because most people involved with the adult industry have a liberal view of government and how it should work,” Hirsch told XBIZ Newswire.

A demographic that is people in their 20s with liberal social views supports Obama overwhelmingly? No way! Tongue

Ron Jeremy seems to think highly of Romney though.

I remember Jenna Jameson, but I'm not sure on any others.

I'd imagine a lot of porn producers are Republicans - um, "libertarian Republicans", fine - actually.

The San Fernando Valley is not going to vote by a 50 point margin for Obama.

This is very much a declining industry - undercut by cheaper competition - isn't it? So perhaps such strong support for Obama can be seen as surprising.

What cheaper competition?

In any case, declining industries almost always support the Democrat.

Remember, there's the new anti-porn plank in the GOP platform this year. I imagine that's something these folks would be aware of and concerned about.

Curious as to why the porn industry made the San Fernando valley in California their base as opposed to, say, Las Vegas.  Wouldn't Sin City make a more logical choice for this industry to be located?

There's a convenient and large supply of "talent" in the many young women who move to nearby Hollywood to become conventional actresses.

Why would manual laborers in a dying industry supporting a Democrat be surprising?

The fact that the porn industry is declining has nothing to do with Obama, and Obama couldn't remedy the situation even if he wanted to, short of signing something like SOPA or PIPA. It was declining during the Bush years too. Its basic problem is that you can't make money selling something when people are giving it away for free. Any male with an Internet connection can watch all the porn he wants on his computer for free in the privacy and safety of his own home.

Hmmm, people that lay around all day and like to get screwed, sounds like a liberally biased sample.  lol

What's the actual % of voters from the porn industry that vote for Obama?

Funny you should mention that.  The recent law passed by Los Angeles city council that requires male porn actors to wear condoms - which was as well received by the industry as you can imagine - has been speculated to initiate a drift towards Vegas as its new base.
