Have any of you seen a commercial for something that made you less likely to give them your money?  I know of numerous examples for myself.  For example,  I hate Old Navy commercials and always have, even before the mannequins.  I remember years ago they did a series of commercials that were parodies of classic TV shows (Leave it to Beaver became "Leave it to Cargos", and I remember another one that spoofed The Love Boat.)  I was only about 9 or 10 years old at the time, and I remember thinking even then about how stupid they were.  I remember another that came out later and featured a diner where people were being served different types of pants, and plenty of other awful ones.  I would never shop there because of those ads.  I also hate the old Fruit of the Loom ads with the guys dressed up as fruit.  They would repeatedly mention Kentucky and I remember one in particular with a song called, "You Can't Over-Love Your Underwear."  Ironically, I still own a lot of FOTL underwear.  There are plenty of other examples of commercials that have deeply disturbed me and made me less likely to buy/support something.  Am I alone on this?  If not, please tell me.

I've seen some pretty overtly sexist commercials, and I usually avoid buying said product.

We have adverts here which go out of their way to be annoying. If they wish to be repellent they can reap what they sow.

Those E*Trade talking baby ads annoy me so much I would specifically not use E*Trade if I did anything they dealt in. Alas this makes me unable to do so.

Also I will not be buying Call of Duty Black Ops 2 non-used because of Oliver North's involvement in the marketing.

I like the E-Trade ads with the baby.  I get a kick out of them.

Carl's Jr ads gross me out.  Nobody wants to see some guy on TV eating a sloppy hamburger.  I eat hamburgers, but I will not eat them from Carl's Jr.

I don't know. I find this one pretty appealing.

the wrap-the-product-in-the flag commercials piss me off on multiple levels.  whether or not I am less likely to buy the product as a result is a different question.  I don't really consume much except for 20-oz bottles of soda and other dopy sh**t at 7-11.  (and food)

Yes, just about every commercial aired these days makes me want to not buy what they're selling.

Most fast food places go several extra miles to polish the turds they sell, but Taco Bell's ads usually fail even at that.

It's a pretty awesome ad if you ignore the sexism though. Great editing/music.

Indeed, any commercial with a white male over the age of 22 is always a complete idiot if there are other people around.  Put him in a commercial alone and he's fine, but pair him with a wife or kids and he's bumbling fool.

McDonald's commercials on the radio are really bad - all the people in them are total idiots, and are intentionally portrayed as such. It's like they're saying "McDonald's - food for idiots".

I have had advertising influence me, but usually it's because said advertising made me aware of a product more than anything else.
