It's not just Alabama. Conservative Republicans control or usually control the trifecta (Governorship & both houses of the state legislature) in big purple, blue or otherwise socially moderate states such as Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Florida, North Carolina, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Missouri and so on. Given the current makeup of the GOP I have no doubt that these states all would have passed draconian bans on abortion without Roe vs Wade. You could see this actually happening and going into effect within the next three or four years.
