My own - Campbell KY.

I don't think Obama will win it this time, but I want to be able to figure out when this shoe is going to drop (which someday it will).

I will be looking at the swing counties as you mentioned but also large counties which favor either of the candidates. The difference in how much of the vote has been counted in those counties will dictate which way the state will go from that point in time. So even if Romney is up in VA, but very little of Fairfax County has been counted, it is possible Obama still wins.

On Election Night, I will be gazing longingly at Natrona County, Wyoming, with whom I had a brief but torrid love affair on the way to Mount Rushmore in 1997.

Natrona County knows what it did to my heart...and I'll make sure it doesn't forget.

Harris County, Texas

If it ever goes to Romney, by even small margin. I'd be ashamed of ever being born in Houston.

If you want to look for a bellwether county in Ohio, Ottawa County has voted for the state's winner in every election since 1944.

In Colorado you want to watch Larimer, which gone with the state since 1952.

In Virginia, Loudon has voted for the winner every election Dave has data for (1932 onward, 1924 and 1912.)
