As a proportion of the electorate, undoubtedly, not only because of the overall demographic trajectory, but because whites in the sticks are not thrilled with Romney (just as they weren't with McCain).  Suburban Mods are fired up about Mittens (like they were with McCain), and - granted - some in the sticks will abide by "lesser evil" "logic" to hold their noses and vote Mittens, but there will be further attrition from 2008.  That's why Mittens was picked as Obie's "opponent" - an assured electoral dud, like President Kerry (got Ds invested after rousing "debate" performances, and people grudgingly eager to hold their nose and vote D one more time, all the while the cards in Shrub's favor per the financial elite's dictum).

I would be surprised if it didn't. The voters who have turned 18 in the past four years are disproportionately non-white, and the people who have "left the voter pool" (mostly due to old age) over the past four years are disproportionately white.

If it's only 72% white, Romney's ceiling is around 48%. 

Republicans really screwed themselves with Hispanics.  They voted 45% for Bush Jr.;  Reagan and Bush Sr. also had great outreach in the 80s, even though the community was much smaller.
