In 1959 congress and the senate allow Alaska, Hawaii to become states as well as Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guam, The Philippines, American Samoa, Dominican Republic and Haiti which would be known as Hispaniola , Guyana and Greenland. Via annexation, acquisition and so on. The electoral college was also expanded to 750 to represent roughly 1 EV for every 240 000 persons, with each new state having at least 1 EV while Alaska, Hawaii, Cuba, PC, Philippines, Hispaniola having at least 2.

How does this affect, US politics? You decide.

Massive leftward shift compared to OTL

I'm not sure.  Hawaii was pretty republican until just after statehood.  Alaska was pretty democratic.  Puerto Rico is pretty republican now and trending rightward.  Not sure about Guam, etc, but Nixon ran a 50-state campaign in 1960; he also spent a lot of time in Alaska IOTL.  Maybe ITTL he spends time in swing states and new states, beginning a rightward trend in those states for years to come.  (Or at least, that would be his goal).

Is the format like on alternatehistory.com, where we each post dates and underneath them whatever we feel like?
