Doing this at the county level would likely be more relevant. I'd say counties that have multiple Apple stores have more in common with one another than they do with non-Apple Store counties in the same state.

Texas is light blue on the map, but really most of the state is "gray" while the areas where people actually live are various shades of red.

Harris County (4-Houston, 1-Friendswood) - 0.84M
Bexar County (2-San Antonio) - 0.86M
Tarrant County (1-Fort Worth, 1-Southlake) - 0.95M
Dallas County (2-Dallas) - 1.19M
