That's for the President to decide.

They presumably have better things to do than waste five hours in Church every Sunday.

Also, who was the last president who was a regular churchgoer, Jimmy Carter?

Christians have an understanding that certain jobs allow for working on Sunday/church skipping. People working in medical fields, policemen, firemen etc. are given a free pass for working on Sundays. I imagine the president falls in that category for most people. Still I would take any president's Christian credentials more seriously if he made the commitment to go to church two hours per week. It'd be even easier if he just wanted to take communion because he could just have the priest/minister come to him.

Well, if Romney became president, religiously I'd be okay with him just having the LDS sacrament brought to him; plenty of Mormons do that (usually because they can't physically get to church), so I'd be okay with an LDS president doing that as well.

Up to the individual of course, but should he or she as in is there some sort of social or moral obligation for a president to go to church? Absolutely not.

Even LDS church services only last 3 hours, and if I remember correctly, we're considered one of the longest ones. No idea what church goes for 5 hours, that'd be torture.

For POTUS to decide, depending on how devout they are.

I agree. What I WOULDNT want is a POTUS going to church just to look devout.

I'd certainly like it, but it's their choice (especially if they've got some sort of national security meeting or some such thing).

Five hours?
He would need to be a Coptic or Assyrian Christian for that to happen. Not very likely.

Honestly why should any one care?... Faith is something personal. Some people have it, some don't. Some go to church, some don't. It's a personal choice. Also I think the President would have more important things to deal with than worry if he's meeting his 'annual church attendance quota' set by the religious obsessives.

The five hours remark is not to be taken literally - it's just hyperbole, IMO. Waste of time to sit in there and listen to that when there are hundreds of constructive things that could be done.

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Positively. Except that it's as easy to lose one's soul in a church as anywhere else!

I'm an agnostic. And I wish Christianity of the Jeffersonian variety would make a comeback.
