Is there any known proof that either candidate stole a state like in 1960?

I don't mean to de-rail the thread but I hear references that the Republicans stole Ky. in 1960 and that the Democrats stole Il.

How was this supposed to have taken place?

I don't believe elections get stolen on either side. If they were, don't you think the Democrats would have stolen it from Reagan/Bush and the Republicans would have stolen it from Clinton/Obama?

The only thing fishy is that the Democrats won the popular vote in the House races and still failed to make a big dent in the Republican majority thanks to re-districting. The first time in 50-60 yrs that's happened!

I still don't believe Pat Buchanan legitimately got a little over 3,000 votes in Palm Beach County, Florida in 2000.

I doubt there is a single person on this forum who actually believes that he did.

No. And as for 1960, both sides cheated in IL but Daley did it better.

In 1960, there can be no doubt that the Democratic Daley Chicago machine stole Illinois and the LBJ machine and Kennedy operatives stole Texas out from under Nixon.

However, in 2012, the election was not stolen.  The Republicans were simply caught flat footed in the states that really counted.

As I recall, Buchanan himself admits that he would've thought he was voting for Gore on one of those weird ballots they used.

The easiest way to cast fraudulent ballots without getting caught is voting multiple times for different dead people.  Since there is no voter ID, and poll workers may or may not know you.  A political boss will give you a List of deceased people from different parts of town.  So you just go to 10 or more polling stations and vote as the deceased person.

Or they can just circumvent the voters, and manipulate the voting machines, ballots, or poll-counters in some fashion - but that may be easier to get caught.

True, but they should have just thrown out those ballots.  The people didn't vote for Gore, but it would be a disservice to them to count them for Buchanan.  And if they made a mistake, the ballots said to go get a new one.

1. Why would someone get a new ballot if they thought they filled it in right?
2. How exactly can you determine who are legitimate Buchanan voters and who are accidental Buchanan voters?
3. If you can somehow determine voter intent, why would you not count the votes towards the candidate people thought they were voting for?

When a vote has been cast for a certain candidate, it should be counted for that candidate. Florida in 2000 was just an awful case, but legally the right thing was done.
