I still don't believe Pat Buchanan legitimately got a little over 3,000 votes in Palm Beach County, Florida in 2000.
I doubt there is a single person on this forum who actually believes that he did.
As I recall, Buchanan himself admits that he would've thought he was voting for Gore on one of those weird ballots they used.
True, but they should have just thrown out those ballots. The people didn't vote for Gore, but it would be a disservice to them to count them for Buchanan. And if they made a mistake, the ballots said to go get a new one.
1. Why would someone get a new ballot if they thought they filled it in right?
2. How exactly can you determine who are legitimate Buchanan voters and who are accidental Buchanan voters?
3. If you
can somehow determine voter intent, why would you not count the votes towards the candidate people thought they were voting for?
