Barbour, AL
Conecuh, AL
Chaffee, CO
Early, GA
Woodbury, IA
Somerset, MD
Warren, MS
Richmond, NY (Staten Island)
Nash, NC
Darlington, SC

Unless I missed some, that's 11 counties.  I think it's easy to explain many of these, but what do you think?

Luna voted for Obama in 2008 and Romney this year.

Otherwise:

-Barbour/Conecuh/Early/Warren/Nash/Somerset/Darlington: Black belt turnout was massive, and there may have been a slight D swing with whites in the Deep South.

-Richmond: Sandy

-Woodbury/Chaffee: ?

Chaffee is slowly turning into a ski resort county IIRC.  Ski resorts are typically >60% D vs. the >60% R surrounding rural areas.  The skiers must have hit critical mass this year.

However, it seems like a lot of ski resort counties swung and trended R.

Sorry for that mistake; I'll correct it.

Nash, NC is a surprise - I'm trying to figure out why. Largest city is Rocky Mount, which is large by eastern NC standards.

53.5% (non-hispanic) white, 37.9% black, which is more white/less black than most flipping Black Belt counties. Of the counties in NC that swung towards Obama, only 4 counties had a higher NH White %: Columbus 60.3%, Richmond 58.3%, Wayne 55.5%, and Pasquotank 55%.

The last time Nash voted more Democratic than NC was 1964, though it has trended Democratic in (at least) the last four elections.
