All the GLA Boroughs are up as well IIRC... I think that my home council (Telford & The Wrekin) might be but I've yet to check

It is 2006 for the GLA Boroughs. I should know, I'm in one.

Telford & Wrekin is up in 2006. However Shropshire is up in May 2005.
If the General Election is in May as well it will really help Labour in Shrewsbury, Oswestry and North Shrops and the Lib Dems in Bridgnorth and South Shrops.

Current Standings
Ruling Group :
Labour 11
Lib Dem 8
ProgRESSIVE iNDEPENDENTS 4

Opposition :
Conservative 19
Independent 2

However in The NorthShrops/ Oswestry seats in 2001 Labour only fought4 seats winning 2 (Oswestry East & Market Drayton). If they fight all of the seats they could pick up an extra seat in Oswestry and Market Drayton (as they are awarded double member seats) as well as Weston Rhyn (ex- Coalfield), they would also have a chance in a close race in Whitchurch.

In the Shrewsbury Area 2001 was a good area for Labour as they won 7 out of the 11 TOWN seats plus Bayston Hill (LARGE VILLAGE ON A49). With good candidates they have a chance in Underdale (council estates in East end of Town) and Sutton (mixed area in South Shrewsbury). But they will be vulnerable in Meole Brace (mixed in south shrewsbury) and Bagley (northend of town) from the Lib Dems.

In South Shropshire THE only Longshot for Labour is in Ludlow.

In BridgnorthdISTRICT, Broseley should be a Labour Hold(ex pit village similar to Madeley/Dawley). and they have a chance in THE two new Bridgnorth seats though I think the Lib Dems will take at least one of those. Also in a good year Labour could pick up Shifnal which is in the Wrekin Constituency.

Highlights fot the Libs in the new Urban Wem seat Ithink it could go Lib Dem witth about 80% of the vote (if there is no Labour candidate), and they have a chance of pick ups in Ellesmere, Prees (Southern Ward of Whitchurch which is quite working class, plus 2 rural wards), Whitchurch, Ludlow Rural and the 2 Bridgnorth seats plus Copthorne in shrewsbury.
