I still think that the GOP shouldn't have pushed out Mike Steele. He orchestrated the largest GOP Midterm Sweep in decades. And Watts has the common-since leadership and appeal that Priebus will never possess.

Watts is very conservative, but he's also great at messaging and connecting with people, so I think he'd be better than that whiny Preibus.

I think you're overestimating the chairman's role. 2010 sweep had little to do with Steele's work just as much as 2012 loses with Priebus' work. The RNC chairman primary job is to raise funds which Priebus did very well. As much as I don't like him, he can't be blamed for Romney's disatrous campaign and congressional candidates epic f**kups.

J.C. Watts was also a lobbyist for the predatory lending industry and a late night TV pitchman for a get rich quick scam.  So, he's perfect for RNC Chair.

I liked Steele, but if he keeps up this sort of rhetoric I can get behind Watts. I'm eager to see him return to the national stage, actually. He's solidly conservative, yet not a Tea Party type. Could be acceptable to both sides. Very importantly, he's a black, but our experience with Steele shows that we can't overestimate what that means.

It's unfortunate Steele comes from as a state as hostile to the GOP as Maryland- his views are on-spot. But I suppose that has a lot to do with his being from Maryland in the first place.

Preibus will be tough to beat. An incumbent is tough to beat! Watts hould wait another cycle in my opinion. What led to Michael Steele's failure at the RNC was he didn't manage money well there and a couple of awkard incidents that happened as well under his watch.

I like J.C. Watts was a great college football player, and an even better Republican Congressman. One of Oklahoma's finest.

Herman Cain is the obvious choice for this job.

Either him or Naso's dad.

Electing J.C. Watts the new RNC chairman should easily win the GOP at least 30-40% of the black vote. The black community is taking this very seriously, and if the Republicans decide to elect a token black ultra-conservative from Oklahoma to be their head fundraiser, it's fair to say that blacks will almost instantly become one of the foremost "swing" demographics.

I live thirteen minutes away and I can say with the great confidence that it would at least be 45%.

JC Watts would be a great Party Chairman.  He was a great Congressman from Oklahoma and America is missing a lot with him not in politics.

This could help Republicans with the black vote in Oklahoma, which we all know is key to winning elections.

Hey, just because he's from Oklahoma doesn't disqualify him from high offices.

Warren was smart enough to leave that hellhole behind and go to a decent state to launch her career.

Bushie is a kind of dude who would enthusiastically support Joseph Kony if only he were from Oklahoma.
