I usually know a lot of the bellwether counties pretty well, but don't know if this is one.

Missouri voted 53%-44% Romney
Clay County voted 53%-44% Romney

Missouri voted 49%-49% McCain
Clay County voted 49%-48% McCain

Missouri voted 53%-46% Bush
Clay County voted 53%-46% Bush

MO, and Clay County voted differently in 2000.

Missouri voted 47%-41% Clinton
Clay County voted 47%-41% Clinton

It's voted like this past few elections. Is Clay County starting to become a bellwether for Missouri?

Its a good bellwether for statewide races, too:

(state)

2012

McCaskill- 55% (54)
Akin- 36% (39)

Nixon- 55% (55)
Spence- 42% (43)

2010

Blunt- 54% (54)
Carnahan- 40% (41)

2008

Nixon- 59% (58)
Hulshof- 39% (39)

One major recent exception I found was the 2006 Senate race; McCaskill pulled a 2.3% win overall, but won Clay 53/44.
