It looks like the Texas Rangers have shipped Michael Young to the Philadelphia Phillies .  I never thought that would happen.  Your thoughts?  Good move fo Texas or bad move?

As a Mets fan, I'm more than happy to see the Philthies continue to get older.  Why would you trade for a 36 year-old who got on base at a .312 clip last year and slugged only .370 in a hitters park?  This was in a healthy 156-game campaign, mind you.  Great move for Texas to unload a player on the decline and get assets back.

Glad to see Wright resigned and likely becoming a lifetime Met.  We need to continue to develop pitching, and hopefully guess right on creating a patchwork lineup.  The team can certainly get on base... but there is a serious lack of power.

Michael Young sucks why would Philadelphia trade for him. Great move for Texas get rid of a terrible  player. If I were a Phillies fan I would be pissed right now.

The Angels better go sign Sanchez now or this off-season will have been a disaster.

How long will Alex Rodriguez be out?  He's having surgery in mid-January.

http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/8726307/alex-rodriguez-new-york-yankees-says-surgery-mid-january

He says he's fully committed to returning.

He missed the first month of the 2009 season due to hip surgery.  He is getting older, and the surgery is only 2 1/2 months before the start of the regular season and only 1 month before the start of Spring Training.  How long do you think he'll be on the shelf and how will the Bronx Bombers fare without him?

Go Nats!  The Haren move is a great one.  We're definitely a 100 win team next season.

Napoli is a good signing, but I'm not sure about Victorino, and they're marginal moves at best. I can't see more than 85 wins, let alone 100.

Verlander is going to break 200 million no problem. He is signed through 2014. As long as Tigers owner Mike Ilitich doesn't die he will get that from the Tigers. If he has another awesome year with no problems like injuries, I would sign him after the 2013 season, he will just get more expensive. He will be 32 in 2015. Yeah it will be attacked as a terrible contract and it easily could be. But if any pitcher can pitch into his late 30's it's Verlander. He has had almost no injury problems. Verlander is going to the hall of fame. Career line: 340 wins, 4,000ip, 3.25 ERA, 3500K, 1 MVP, 3 cy young awards. Greatest Tigers pitcher all time (Tigers are weak when it comes to great pitchers though).

Former Red Sock Kevin Youkilis appears to be joining the Yankees.

This.

Their new acquisitions appear to be good, but I don't think it will reverse the damage of 2012.

I'm glad the Pirates re-signed Grilli to a 2 year deal.  He's really one of the better set-up men in the game right now.

Indeed, Hamilton has joined enemy territory.  I'm afraid my favorite AL team, the Texas Rangers are going to suffer the consequences with two big bats, Michael Young and Josh Hamilton gone.

Yeah Michael Young is a bad baseball player, the Texas Rangers are a better team without him. In no way is he a "big bat" in any sense of the word. He hit .277/.312/.370 playing 81 games in Texas. He also can't field but apparently he will play 3rd. I just looked at his stats he played 71 games at DH and 41 at 1st base with that line above, wow that makes him even more worse than I originally thought. Texas Ranger fans should be thanking God that some sucker of a team actually traded for him. Of course Texas is paying 10 million of his salary and Philadelphia is only on the hook for 6 million, which is way too much for him. Philadelphia couldn't find someone else to play 3rd?
