PoliticalWire calls him the least popular Senator in the country because of the recent PPP results: 37% approve/55% disapprove. But many of those disapproving are Republicans that say they will hold their nose and vote for him. He leads all Dems, including Judd, by four points.

It's a small margin, and I think Abramson can make up the margin. Judd is too liberal to bridge the gap and Conway was just not a good candidate in 2010.

Harry Reid wasn't exactly popular in 2010 either. If Reid couldn't be defeated in 2010 and McConnell couldn't be defeated in 2008 then he won't be now.

Judd is the top choice in the primary: 29% want her follows by 16% for Lt. Governor Abramson and 15% for Conway.

And for those thinking Judd is personally popular, you might want to reconsider: 42% view her favorably, 36% unfavorably and 22% are unsure.

Reid was very beatable, but Sharron Angle was chosen. And she only lost by 7 points, compared to what a candidate like Angle should lose to. Similar to Reid, McConnell is very beatable, they just have to be smart about who they pick to try to beat him.

That seems pretty close, and with low undecideds (47%-43%). Unless the environment shifts favorably for Republicans, which is more likely than not, McConnell's going to have to defend his seat actively. He'd still win, but it will be a distraction.

So my inkling that Kentucky voters just need to be presented with unbiased information in order to get them to can McConnell was correct.

It's Kentucky in a midterm. Whoever comes out of the Republican primary wins.

I know, I just want McConnell to lose. Whoever replaces him, even a teabagging nut, would be fine.

Trailing by 4 points 2 years out isn't bad for the Dems, especially in Kentucky.

Fair enough, then.

Have Beshear and Lundergan Grimes ruled out Senate runs this cycle?  I'm surprised they weren't mentioned in the poll.

Hey, Mitchy boy.

Remember that time you wanted to keep West Virginia University out of the Big 12? Well, West Virginians don't like YOU either! (And as this thread proves, neither do Kentuckians)

I will personally donate money to the man or woman who has the best chance of primarying your Louisville-loving, WVU-hating  butt!

See that's what people need to remember about these heavily white conservative states. Insurgent  Democrats were able to make some gains in this region during the Bush administration because the GOP base was demoralized and losing faith in Bush. These days, a lot of the Republican Politicians in these states  are deeply unpopular but the GOP has a boogie man figure to unite the base. All Mitch McConnell has to do is tie the Democratic nominee to Obama and he'll win. Only after Obama leaves and a Republican president comes into office will Democrats have a chance to win segments of this conservative electorate.

If Ashley Judd wasn't a hollywood liberal she wouldn't be tied to anti-gun lobby and hcr reform. 2nd amendment rights are very prominent in KY and won't win because of that. Once Hcr is implimented, it will doom her as well, McConnell tie it around her kneck. Chelie Pedigree on the other hand can be the beneficiary of the hcr like Elizabeth Warren was.
