What about posting on the forum while studying (ie what I'm doing right now)?

In my experience, not a very productive way of studying... Smiley

And drinking alcohol during studying ... depends on what you have to study. Lean bad idea.

Probably just wasting your time.  Put the books down man, step away from the laptop.  Enjoy your drink, study later.

I have come to learn in recent days that it is difficult to find a balance between the two.

God, it sure isn't.

It leads to a reading average of 5 pages an hour or so.

Writing, in my case. And it's more like 0.5 pages per hour. Tongue

Not like getting drunk while studying, obviously. But enjoying a nice cold beer that you slowly sip over an hour or so.

In that case...

I do that frequently.

Then you shouldn't drink.

Huh. Drinking certainly never (at blood alcohol levels low enough to be on the scale) impacted my ability to read.

Actually, I'm probably closest to being consistent on these things. It has nothing to do with some moral opposition to drinking; I just don't care for alcohol. I'll taste something my friends mix in with another beverage every so often but that's pretty much it. It's an "acquired taste" I simply haven't acquired yet.

i can only really enjoy cider and vodka for much the same reason. i don't mind lager or bitter, but i won't pay to drink them.

Indeed, most alcohol is horrible, nasty stuff.  But like a lot of things, there is probably something out there for everybody.  There is a million different flavors in the alcohol family.

generally it only worked for me at very low blood alcohol levels, say 0-.04, which you seem to be describing.  I never drink in a way that leaves me at that level for very long.

I've found it almost impossible to drink while studying and maintain the kind of focus I need to comprehend and retain information, ESPECIALLY since I've started law school.  It just doesn't work, it increases your likelihood of being distracted ten fold.

As somebody who really doesn't like beer outside of the whole "gets you drunk" component, I think this would be

1)  A waste of a tastier beverage alternative
2)  A waste of a perfectly good beer

I could, however, do this with cider or wine.
