Not like getting drunk while studying, obviously. But enjoying a nice cold beer that you slowly sip over an hour or so.
As somebody who really doesn't like beer outside of the whole "gets you drunk" component, I think this would be

1)  A waste of a tastier beverage alternative
2)  A waste of a perfectly good beer

I could, however, do this with cider or wine.

Yeah, doing it with cider or wine probably works too, though wine might be too alcoholic.

It's fine to do in college for easy assignments, but I wouldn't drink while studying for an exam. Back when I was young I used to have a couple of IPAs with my friends before heading to a joke night class. I don't think it's really something engineers or people with real majors can actually do though.

I had 'success' doing it; if by success you only mean getting A's, but wouldnt recommend it to anyone else. I wasted a lot of time, money and potential (such as it was) by being a swill.

Wonderful practice.  Prefer drinking while writing though. I get my best grades whenever I write a paper after having a few.

I did it a lot when I was researching for my thesis or still studying before going out, but in most situations it was a fairly poor decision. Smoking was a lot better, but often led to deep, deep tangents through Wikipedia or YouTube.

Interesting..  I play the guitar best after a few drinks (at least it sounds better), but I can't say the quality of my coursework/studying doesn't downgrade dramatically.

Actually, I'm probably closest to being consistent on these things. It has nothing to do with some moral opposition to drinking; I just don't care for alcohol. I'll taste something my friends mix in with another beverage every so often but that's pretty much it. It's an "acquired taste" I simply haven't acquired yet.

It is definitely an acquired taste.  I never cared for beer until I started drinking it while boating, fishing, ect.  Now a nice cold beer is actually refreshing, believe it or not.

I grew to enjoy my liquor straight. Now I don't like drinking it any other way.

Alcohol is a FD

Freedom Drink - definition - a drink full of freedom and happiness that is pleasurable to the mouth for enjoyment at your house or at another place of residence or at a bar if you're of age or at your Mom's house. Oh.

Keep in mind I don't really sip any beverages.  I tend to drink them quickly when I am thirsty.  Beer neither tastes particularly good, nor is it a pleasant drink to quench thirst.

If I'm going to drink, I'd prefer something with a bit more bite to it.

Horrible practice... I can't focus.  Now, writing while drinking, I can (and did) do that fine.

I will occasionally drink Scotch while studying, since I drink that slower than mixed drinks or beer.

Usually Famous Grouse.  Cheaper, but still good.

I have heard good things about Famous Grouse, but haven't tried it. It is suppose to be a very good blended scotch. I really can't stand really cheap scotch like 10-15 dollars an fifth. I tend to not drink that often so I can afford to buy more expensive liquor like single malt scotch. A fifth of scotch can last me 4-6 months, although it would be less if the only liquor I drank was scotch.

I've never tried it and probably don't want to do it - I guess need to be clear in mind to study or write important texts. Also, never drink alcohol between two curling games, even if it's tempting! It's not good for your rock delivery. However, you probably need to have experienced it yourself to know what I mean.

Powder cocaine is for stupid (or just average) people who want to not notice their own mediocrity. It has little effect beyond that.

Really!  I've never tried it, or in fact any stimulant other than caffeine.
