There's finally a Google Maps app for iOS.

Won't be buying an iPhone for my next phone purchase. Apple is slowly falling behind the curve. iOS is looking a little outdated, and I'm actually liking the look of Windows Phone. I figure they're still working out a few kinks, but I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft actually makes a real dent in the portable devices market. Surface looks decent too. We'll see what happens.

As for the Google Maps app... thank God.

You're asking this question of posters on this website? Seriously, unless it shows presidential election results and swings by county for all elections since 1100BC, it's a sub-par mapping tool...

Thank goodness, I can finally upgrade my iPhone to the newest version. Unfortunately the new native Maps app without transit support is basically useless to me living here, and looking up subway/bus directions is like half of what I use my phone for.

I've been incorrectly assuming for three years now that when I click on "Maps" it was Google Maps

Well, it has been Google Maps for the most part of the last three years. But when Apple released the iOS 6 download a few months ago, they replaced the old app with their own version. And it was quite lacking, to say the least.

It sended people in Victoria State of Australia in the desert, 40 miles away from the wanted town if you asked that particular town.

Without counting non-existing bridges and roads.
