I hereby certify that the Mideast has voted in favor of the "Anti Mandatory Minimum Amendment" with 13 Ayes and 9 Nays.

My term as Mideast Governor has officially ended and it's time to hand over all responsibilities to my successor Spiral. I thank the people of the Mideast for having elected me to the office three times and wish the new Governor a lot of fun and success during his term(s) in office. I am confident that he will serve our region to the best of his abilities.

I can assure my friends and foes that I will stick around and remain dedicated to the Mideast. I am not going to run for any office in the near future but I will continue to pay attention to Atlasia in general and my region in particular.

Before I leave the governor's mansion I've got one last point to make. Indeed, there is no such thing as a permanent right-wing or left-wing majority in any of the Atlasian regions. No matter whether you are a conservative, liberal, libertarian or socialist, if you remain patient and dedicated to a particular region your work will eventually bear fruit.

Once again, thank you to the people of the Mideast!

Thank you! I actually think your new boss will handle a couple of things better than I could so there's nothing to worry about. Wink

I strongly urge the Senate to vote to confirm Torie as the new Supreme Court Judge. As a real-life lawyer Torie is by far the most qualified candidate for the job and it would be a shame if the Labor Party Senators continued to refuse to confirm him for reasons that are simply not logical. Should Torie not be confirmed, I encourage President Duke to re-appoint him as soon as DC al Fine has been sworn in as the next Mideast Senator. Atlasia cannot afford to ignore the most competent people for such important offices!

I firmly agree. I have been a citizen of Atlasia for over five years now, and I have never seen a nominee more self-evidently the person for the job.

On the gubernatorial election and other issues

It looks like there is going to be a competitive election for Mideast Governor next month. Indeed, that's very positive for the region and I'm looking forward to seeing how the campaign unfolds.

I worked with both Spiral and Riley Keaton in the past and consider both of them allies and friends in the context of Atlasia. Since I have already been asked whether I would publicly endorse one of them I feel that it's necessary to announce that I can't make an endorsement at this point. Indeed, I sincerely believe that both Spiral and Riley have the ability to serve the Mideast well.

Speaking of the Mideast in general, I must say that I am not at all happy about the way things are going at the moment. While some may believe that it is the Governor who is to blame for the recent lull in activity, many factors are responsible for this unfortunate development.
The last legislative session was certainly a disappointment so I call on all members of the Assembly to start working harder and introduce more bills. The Mideast doesn't need an abortion debate every two months but there are many more issues that can be discussed.

I hereby announce that I am running in this month's election for Mideast Assembly. Unlike the last couple of campaigns where I basically was part of the Federalist Party establishment, I am an independent candidate this time. Therefore, I fully expect this election to be close so the outcome is far from certain.

As you may have seen in my previous Atlasia-related posts, I have made clear that I am dissatisfied with the direction the Mideast has taken during the last few months. I am aware that I probably stepped on some people's toes but I believed it was necessary in order to try to wake up this region from its deep slumber. Indeed, only very few bills have been introduced and debated in the Assembly and voter turnout has reached alarming lows. We are still the largest region so there is reason for hope but we must act now.

If elected, I promise to be an active legislator and introduce various pieces of legislation, the details of which I am going to unveil in the next few days.

I am glad to see your returning, at least in some form, to elective office (or at the very least the active pursuit thereof).

Thanks a lot. Considering the only issue we agree on 100% is the introduction of a secret-ballot system your endorsement, butafly, surprises me a little. But it's a very positive surprise - I appreciate it. Wink

Having someone who so genuinely cares about the Mideast is great, and so I'm glad you are returning to the region! Endorsed!

Thank you!

If elected to the Assembly, I am going to focus on enhancing or repealing pieces of legislation which have been passed in previous sessions. The Mideast has shifted to the right due to the fact that a sizable number of left-leaning voters have moved out of the region, and I think it's about time this becomes visible. Wink

Good luck. I imagine we may be in competition for votes come the election; however, if we both get elected I would very much be interested in helping with your legislative agenda Smiley

Excellent! I'm looking forward to getting lots of amendments, repeals and new bills passed. I'm currently looking through the Mideast statute page on the wiki to see what can be done.

Thank you, TJ!

So, the election has started and since there are fewer than six declared candidates only three of us can win a seat. While I would obviously be happy to win one of these seats, I encourage all Mideasterners to vote. Let's revive our region!

Thank you to everyone who has voted so far - whether it's a vote for me or one of the other candidates. The most important right now is that we manage to get more citizens involved in regional affairs again.
