On paper, Maine should have had a significantly larger swing to Romney. Like New Hampshire (but to a much lesser extent), it is somewhat fiscally conservative with a surprisingly strong Tea Party presence. In addition, the Romney campaign made a late push especially in the more rural and conservative 2nd district (though it was probably more to divert the Obama campaign's spending). Not only did it trend Democratic, however, but several counties actually swung Democratic. Did Sandy hit hard here or something?

A snooty zillionaire from MA is supposed to be beloved in ME. Lolwut? They'll be glad to sell him $35 lobster bisque, but they'd rather not give him the keys to the castle.
