I understand the point he was trying to make, that the victims of Sandy need quicker aid, but I must say I'm a bit offended.

Wind speed:
Katrina - 175 mph
Sandy - 110 mph

Minimum central pressure:
Katrina - 902 mb
Sandy - 940 mb

Fatalities:
Katrina - 1,833
Sandy - 253

Damage:
Katrina - $108 billion
Sandy - >$65.6 billion

Yeah... I'm not sure what Reid was talking about.

Democrats tried to help Katrina victims. Republicans in the House ignore the victims of Sandy.

I'm so busy being outraged by what Reid said that I didn't have time to vote for hurricane relief for Sandy victims after they've been waiting around for two months. Sorry, guys!

Reid is hands down one of my least favorite senators and I hope he retires in 2016. He's the epitome of a political hack and was utterly useless in the fiscal cliff negotiations.

Badly worded comment, but in fairness Reid was talking about the economic damage (which might come very close to Katrina when its all set and done), the amount of people impacted as it hit a much heavier populated area, and the lack of aid since House Republicans sit with a big up their ass.

By "help", do you mean Democratic administrations (like GOP administrations) ignoring the 30 years of pleas from New Orleans to improve the levee system?

As congressional Republicans have taught us post-Sandy, such upgrades to the levee system are pork and should be reflexively voted against.

I was just in New Orleans a few weeks ago. Looks pretty darn good, all things considered. How's the MS Gulf Coast doing?
