[??] Do we have to hold a vote to formally endorse Griffin for the special election, or that's automatic?

[CON] I wanted to propose somewhere in upstate New York, but, I think than Burlington is good enough.

[END] Unfortunately, we have already had our convention endorsement process. However - if it makes you feel better - the only way in which a non-Labor candidate could receive endorsement via our by-laws would be if there were no Labor candidates for President.

[??] Do we have to hold a vote to formally endorse Griffin for the special election, or that's automatic?

[END] Assuming no other Laborite announces for the seat, the endorsement is automatic. If there are multiple Labor candidates, then we will have a primary.

[CON] Since we only had 1 nomination with more than one vote, I suppose we will include it along with the first 2 of 3 other suggested locations (yet another consideration we should make in future by-laws).

This vote will last for 24 hours.

[CON] Voting is now closed.

RESULTS: 12 VOTERS

Pittsburgh, PA: 5
Burlington, VT: 4
Newark, NJ: 3

Pittsburgh is hereby selected as the Spring 2013 Labor Party Convention site.

With all formal business finished, the convention will remain open for a period of time in the event anyone would like to discuss ongoing events, have a bretzel or just gossip. If everyone is anti-social and chooses not to partake, the convention will be adjourned shortly.

Comrades n°5 and 5 of the BCMPA, let's gather in a dark corner and conspire, collude, conjure, plot, scheme, maneuver, intrigue and cabal. Possibly by raising and frowning the eyebrows a lot and whispering.

I think we should remove Marxist-Leninist language out of the party's office, rename General Secretary to Whip. Politburo should be kept considering other socialist groups used it.

In France, Sarkozy's right-wing party has a General Secretary (well, now, it has a couple, but, it's another story). It's not Marxist-Leninist language.

Actually, it kind of is, because French gaullist parties took communist organizations as models. The RPR then the UMP had a political bureau, secretary general, I think the UDR even also had a central committee.

But I don't think there's anything wrong with the words we use. Anyway, Whip sounds Indiana Jones-y to me, or borderline BDSM...
