I'm not surprised that he didn't work out a 2 weeks. Although I do have a strange feeling he was actually let go at the end of his contract. Was it a 6 month temp-to-hire contract? Has it been 6 months? Do they have to wait the entire 6 months to decide whether to hire him?

Yeah, generally I think you'd know before the absolute last minute if you were on a contract and they wanted to keep you, no?

I wish I knew more about temp-to-hire contracts. My assumption is, he was informed they would not be making him a permanent hire recently, did not tell us, and this house drama was a convenient way to get out of this situation altogether. Otherwise, this behavior makes no sense, and usually when BushOK makes such rash decisions, there is something else that acting as the driving force.

By George, I think you got it. None of it makes any sense otherwise. His almost equally impecunious parents want him back so he can be an additional financial burden to them, as opposed to just getting rid of the house, and his making his own money, which would be enough to support him. Really?   But he did not make up the house part to the extent that it exists. That part was factual, other than the fact that it was already for sale, and was under water, and therefore there was no value to preserve, and it is a waste of time and money to bother with it any further. Which means the house was part of the cover story.

I do notice the ad for the house says it has AC (and is a great rental property - LOL - it would be hell!), when Jeff says the AC was stolen. Maybe the ad needs to be updated. Oh, the shed is kind of a "tight fit" as a venue for  an orgy by the way. Just sayin'.

Folks, I have got everything canceled up here, the cable will be turned off tomorrow, and I have just taken a few things to Goodwill and I will on the road before Noon tomorrow.  I've got to the car loaded tonight, then I'll load the car, take the cable box/modem to the Comcast store tomorrow at 7:00 am and be on the road later in the morning most likely in the 9:00-10:00 am time frame.  So, Joe, expect me around 3:00 pm PST tomorrow afternoon.

Second, why don't you raffle off your trip to Kenya? You simply cannot afford it. Recoup some of your sunk costs, eliminate the need for spending money for the trip, pay back those who funded it and if anything is left over- give it to charity.

You really have to start re-adjusting and thinking about your actions. We all want certain things but have to be realistic about what we can achieve. I think it is great that you have a desire to help in Kenya. However, you have to build skills and build your character up so that you would not be a millstone around the proverbial neck of this orphanage venture. Right now this is more about soothing your ego and making you feel better about yourself.

Nope, no lie this time.  I don't have THAT much stuff, because I donated quite a bit of stuff to Goodwill.  It should take me just about a couple hours to load the car.  I have been working on this since Saturday, but just moved up the departure this evening.
