Cathcon, I want Sen. Lee Overman (D-NC)/Rep. Alexander Mitchell Palmer (D-PA) on the ballot on the Anti-Socialist Party ticket.

Seconded, though I wish the standard bearer for anti-communism in this era was someone better than Lee Overman.

Does the "right" of Atleftica truly want their vote split three ways?

The left has had its vote split four ways on occasion and we've done fine.

Underwood and Marshall losing is hardly the left doing fine.  Debs is alright, but not the way he was elected.

...La Follette was to the left of Underwood and Debs was to the left of Marshall.

It's a sad day when I'm considered to be on the "right." In any case, I was hoping for a Republican/Democratic "unity" ticket, perhaps with Senator Thomas Sterling (R-SD), the surviving Republican on the Overman Committee, as the Republican half.

You're assuming that there are as many right-wingers as left-wingers, which is clearly not the case...

Can we drop the conspiracy theories now, please? The margin between Debs and the others was big enough that he would have beaten Norris or Coolidge or any of the other candidates besides Wood too. Debs didn't win through some dirty trick.

Anyway, I voted for Johnson in the GOP Primary since Debs has his primary all wrapped up.

Aside from even the domestic panic, internationally, such policies were not well received and U.S. trade collapsed thanks to embargoes and powerful nations like Great Britain not wishing to do business with the new "United Socialist States of Atleftica" as it was called.

"...though the British embargo proved short-lived as J.R. Clynes won the 1922 elections with the first-ever Labour majority, having savaged the Lloyd George government's 'destruction of the economy out of petty spite'..."

Seriously, though, I know you want to 'punish' us for voting for Debs, but you might want to read up on the state of the post-World War One global economy. If Europe is dumb enough to try a trade war with the U.S. now, it'll be Bolsheviks from Dublin to Moscow by 1924.

So if there's a four-way split and only one can win, the fact that the other three didn't win means the whole thing's doing badly? We've had 36 consecutive years of leftist Presidents, X.

Just saying it could be better.

My head said Johnson for the Republican nod as I think he could win, but I went with my heart for a change and chose Coolidge.

If La Follette is running as a socialist, then I'm not voting for him anymore.  I go with Johnson, but Coolidge would be a good candidate too.  Maybe as a ticket (either way)?

Lol, I didn't know Friedman opposed the Austrians that much, considering the Austrians and Chicagoans have always been rather similar in philosophy, at least from my understanding. Tongue

I suppose I'm the weird guy who in all of the other conventions voted for the best candidate in each party....

Anyway, Al Smith.  While I approve of Debs policies, I haven't quite been convinced to switch parties.

Do you mean more leftist, as in a four-, five-, or even six-term Debs Presidency?

I mean as in not soiling Debs good name with such shameful dirty tricks.  Let the man win or lose with dignity and stop ruining the TL by forcing Cath to use jungle primaries.

Are you in favor of taking away our right to vote in other primaries then?

Clanbake? Is this some weird pro-weed festival hosted by liberal members of the KKK?

Apparently a clan bake is where a bunch of people get together in a small room or someplace and get all potted up on weed.

Ooh, we seem to have an actual primary battle going on! Will this determine the future of the Republican Party, with the rising-est rising star of the conservative wing in a battle to claim the party mantle and restore conservatism to the national stage once and for all? Or will Atleftican conservatism be crushed once and for all? Stay tuned for our next update!
