Here we go dawgs. The past four years have been transformative for Atleftica. With a majority, something no president has received since the days of Samuel J. Tilden and the 1876 election, Debs set out to change American fundamentally. His first step though would be getting out of prison. On March 4th, 1921, a local law man of little note swore in Debs as the nation's next President. After that, President Debs pardoned himself and several other Socialists, famously strolling out the front entrance of the prison, arms in the air. After that, Debs succeeded in historic anti-trust laws, transformed the work week and hours, and even succeeded in nationalizing some corporations. As well, in a landmark diplomatic decision, he recognized the Soviet Union, which had emerged from the ashes of the Great War in 1917. However, this was not without a cost. Several large companies, either in direct response to new laws, or fearing Debs' wrath, reacted negatively. A number of firings, drops in stock in mid-1921, and so on occurred. Aside from even the domestic panic, internationally, such policies were not well received and U.S. trade collapsed thanks to embargoes and powerful nations like Great Britain not wishing to do business with the new "United Socialist States of Atleftica" as it was called. Debs responded with a massive public works program intended to aid the unemployed while he took the new Panic of 1921 as his mandate to nationalize even more companies. Now Americans have a chance to have a referendum on the Debs administration, one that will certainly go down in history. For good or ill, it is unsure.

For the Republicans, the three main contenders are 1920 Vice Presidential nominee Calvin Coolidge, former President Robert La Follette, and famed Senator Hiram Johnson. Meanwhile, some moderate Socialists are considering nominated the respected and admired progressive La Follette as opposed to their own highly controversial President. For the Democrats, it is as well down to three candidates. 1920 Vice Presidential nominee Al Smith is running as a Northern liberal, proposing efficiency, tariff reductions, and a more nuanced and market-friendly approach to the economy than Debs. McAdoo, a lawyer and son-in-law of former Governor Woodrow Wilson, is running as the candidate of the rural interests. The lowest tier Democratic candidate though is John W. Davis, a lawyer and Congressman. Whom will you choose?

Two days to give me leeway, though I may cut it short at one day if I feel like it. We'll see.

I voted for one of our most underrated POTUS's, Silent Cal. Politicians tend to talk way too much these days. I would like more beef, and less empty calories in the words emanating from the class. We now have politicians like Palin that are almost entirely just junk food. Anyway, it is better to do not much, than do harm.
You think Debs is doing harm?

See: Panic of 1921.
Yea, but that's the capitalists' fault and not Debs'. This is why he nationalized a few industries and started a public works program to solve these problems.
Again, he did it with the intention of solving things. Doing something with the intention of solving things guarantees nothing. The economy is in a state of, how shall we call, "destructive transition". A break from capitalism would of course have direct market consequences even as it's happening. Where we shall go should the "transition" complete itself remains to be seen.

Cathcon, I want Sen. Lee Overman (D-NC)/Rep. Alexander Mitchell Palmer (D-PA) on the ballot on the Anti-Socialist Party ticket.

Could be possible. I have a semi-strict doctrine of basing it on real life tickets, but this is definitely called for. The question of course is whether or not I will answer that call.

Nah dawg. We don't have an actual "jungle primary" system. This is just to dissuade the saboteurs. It's like how in real life you have to choose between a Democratic and Republican primary. Except it's not like I can check registration in two or three different threads. So this is like the voting booth, you choose your party and which candidate you want from that party.

McGraw-Hill apologizes for the error and will strive for 100% accuracy in all future editions.

I 'ppreciate it, and realize you're just trying to do the best job you can. I, as Atleftica's deity, will attempt to keep you informed on some notable changes and such.

Seconded, though I wish the standard bearer for anti-communism in this era was someone better than Lee Overman.

Does the "right" of Atleftica truly want their vote split three ways?

In honor of the Clanbake, this ought to take more than two days.

Clanbake? Is this some weird pro-weed festival hosted by liberal members of the KKK?

Can we have a united ticket to go up against the Soviets Socialists?

As in a Republican and a Democrat or this Overman/Palmer thing that's being bandied about?

I mean like as in times where one party decided to endorse another party's candidate in order to put up a united opposition against the party in power.

As tempting as that may be, I fear I would be too active in my role as this thing's manager if I were to lop together a two-party ticket.
