Here are two candidates who are loyal to their party, but often raise eyebrows with their base as they tend to be way more to the center than their base would like.   There are a lot of Republicans out there who like Liberman, and vice versa with Democrats and McCain.

So who would you vote for and which party are you with?

Two terrible choices. I guess McCain, since at least he'll probably die soon.

Lieberman! Mainly because I'm not too sure if McCain is all there.

Liberman, although I don't think our country is ready to elect a jewish president. Not that I'm anti-semantic, but I just don't think he'd win.

McCain has his name all over that foolish campaign finance act. He's also whole heartedly in favor of Bush's social security and immigration reform among other things. I have to wonder if he's moving more to the right overall just to please the right wing of his party.

Oh yeah, Lieberman's Jewish. In that case, definitely McCain.

What's wrong with a Jewish president?

Both talk like moderates yet Lieberman's voting record is considerably more liberal than McCain's.

I'd vote Lieberman, yet I wouldn't mind a McCain presidency.

McCain would win in a Reagan-like landslide.  Joe Lieberman just doesn't fire up very many people, and he's nearly as unpopular as Zell Miller at dailykos.com and mydd.com.  McCain, on the other hand, does fire people up, and even some liberals would defect from their normal voting patterns and vote for him over Lieberman.  I'd vote for Lieberman, but the fact that McCain would have a chance of earning my vote would be a sign that Lieberman would have BIG problems.

The map:

McCain wins with 509 electoral votes.

McCain. Has anybody seen Lieberman's voting? He rejected the Parial birth abortion ban and voted with his party on almost everything. I'm sure Bush is being more pro-Israel than he'd be as a president, so Jewish president does not equal best for America.
