Figured I'd break off a new thread for this, since the other one is pretty long already. AFAIK there are no maps of the recent election down to the municipality level. So to kick things off, here's Roma province:

The map is of leading coalition, scaled by 5%. Pink is PD, Blue is PdL, and Yellow is M5S obviously. There were a few municipalities where one of the minor parties in a coalition got more votes than the major party; in those cases I used the same coloring scale but different colors. SEL, FdI and Moderati in Rivoluzione each won one municipality, and FdI and PdL tied in one. SEL is shown in red, FdI in purple, MiR in Teal, and the FdI-PdL tie is in blue-purple. Map of municipalities comes from Wiki.

I don't really know enough about Rome to understand this map completely, but I assume that the sea of pink/red in the Northeastish area are working-class/poor suburbs of Rome. The Grillo ring of inner-suburbs surrounding Rome is very interesting too.

Any particular requests for the future? If I can find municipal maps, I was going to move on to other big cities, probably Naples next if possible. If not, I'll do some vote-strength maps for Monti, Ingroia, SEL, etc.

From what I saw on Rome, the outer parts went strongly for Grillo, whereas in the last years they had been trending pretty strongly for the right.
Rome's center is where Grillo was weaker, and PD was stronger.

As for Rome's province,Grillo gained a bit everywhere, but the part north of Rome was mostly for Berlusconi before (at the same time,he gained from PD south of Rome).

Why is the right so strong all around Naples?

Cheesy

The Christian Dems strength to this day in the mountainous countryside is really something else. Reminds me of my late Great Grandmother: when she came over here, she registered as a Dem. My family always tried to get her to re-register as a Republican. She stubbornly insisted that she remain a Democrat because she thought it was the Christian Democratic Party.

Yeah, I didn't think that was going to happen this time. Cue to the suggestions I know certain members want to make...

Anyway, this can't be good for De Magistris. Then again, he had himself in enough problems recently anyway.

There is quite some coast-inland divide in Campania. Does it have to do with real estate tax (reimbursement), which should be more of an issue for areas depending on tourism, especially if they have a "small pension" kind of accomodation structure? Or is that historical?

Camorra.

In Piemonte,M5S was quite strong because of the TAV issue (there is a local protest against the construction of a new railway connecting Turin to Lyon based on environmental issues, and they support the protest).

That was something I was wondering.

Looking over M5S results, there seems to be an interesting pattern of the party doing best in low-lying areas and valleys and poorly in mountainous areas - it is the case in Sicily, Calabria, Abruzzo and probably in the north too.

In Sicily, there appears to be a superficial and imperfect correlation between where M5S did best and the places the PCI regularly won in the 70s/80s.

This would mean that not all italian young women are enraged against their grandpas, but quite a lot of them have been listenting to them ..

Is this valley vs. mountains, or urban/ suburban vs. rural (we probábly need a few more community-level maps to see clearer here) ? Has the TAV case been singular, or is MSS generally tending to oppose large infrastructure projects (which, of course, would mostly be in valleys / plains)?

I appreciate the work that Homely is doing, but this link is

It has commune-level results for every province from 2008 and 2013. Honestly one of the best election-map resources for any country I've seen.

It's a wonderful interactive map. It resembles me the map of the Greek elections in The Guardian website. I wonder if this was made by the same people because it's pretty similar. Only homely can compete with this.
