Nixon runs again in 1964, after narrowly losing to Kennedy in 1960. He choses Ronald Reagan as his running mate. What does the electoral map look like?

Probably this, or something close to it...

Nixon would have done better than Goldwater -- I think almost anyone would have -- but he gets nowhere near the 270 he would need to win. I think at that point, America was going to stick with Johnson regardless of who the GOP nominated.

Johnson/Humphrey (D): 417
Nixon/Reagan (R): 121

Without Goldwater I could see Wallace running in 64' and winning the South. I don't think he can weaken Johnson enough to provoke a Nixon victory, but the map will be very interesting...

LBJ's approvals were above 70% during the entirely of 1964 before the election. He would have won in a landslide against Jesus himself.

This. LBJ would have probably won bigger had turnout not been dampened due to the certainty of his victory.

Here's the weird thing about Johnson, though. Apparently he was still paranoid about losing. That's one of the reasons he decided to release the Daisy Ad. No candidate confident of his victory would have released an advertisement that was so controversial. After he barely won his first senate race, I don't think LBJ ever took an election for granted.

Wallace runs as a third party and takes the Deep South, Nixon wins a handful of states.

Nixon & Reagan were both from the same state.
Plus, Reagan wasn't even elected Governor of California until 1966.

LBJ would have won Jerusalem running against Jesus.

Not hard to imagine, given Jesus' precipitous drop in approval ratings shortly after His first event (rally) within the city limits.

That's what Prescott Bush was for on the former, and as for The Plains, he [LBJ] could market himself as a Westerner rather than a Southerner.

Bush would of made it closer yes but wasn't Connecticut a swing state in that time. I wouldn't think just a simple VP pick could save Nixon in any swing states (including Connecticut) given the landslide that map shows and I doubt it would go Republican before states like the Dakotas or Kansas. He could do that yes but you have to remember those states (minus Oklahoma) have historically and are still very republican states and would vote red in a landslide. I don't think they would ditch this trend especially considering the republicans are lead by a moderate westerners. Only Goldwater could of lost these states which he did in 1964 because he was a horrible candidate.
