Keeping this open till Apr. 14.

Obviously voting Capriles even though I know he won't win the real thing and probably not this one either.

Capriles.

Maduro seems like an old hack with no particular interest apart from preserving the chavist power structure. Capriles seems relatively moderate and he would have a hard time undoing all the progress done with regard to the war on poverty, and he could do something good against corruption and criminality. I admit I don't know Capriles well enough to be 100% sure about his good faith, but I think he'd be worth a try.

Maduro. Capriles is a neoliberal tool who pretends to be a centrist.

Capriles, but unenthusiastically. Hopefully, Lief is right; Venezuela needs more full-throated defenders of neoliberalism.

One on which Venezuela is not ruled by neoliberals.

A "full-throated defender of neoliberalism" would never be democratically elected in Venezuela because Venezuelans aren't suicidal.

Obviously Capriles will win, since this forum is full of moderate heroes.

"Si, comprendo" -- "If, I understand"

"Sí, comprendes" -- "Yes, you understand"

Why is Vosem such a smug little kid [Torie edit]?

Cool epic winning

^This, exactly. Plus he'd have a Chavist majority in the legislature that would stop him from going all neoliberal if he wanted to.

Bumping because we're a week out. Unfortunately the RL result will bear no resemblance to this one.

I don't trust the dubiously-homophobic Communist.

Capriles.

I trust neither.  Capriles for the sake of democracy only, with the hope that a non-Chavist left candidate will challenge him next time around.

True. Venezuela needs some kind of social compromise, where the rich acknowledge that poverty needs to be reduced and basic welfare established for the poor, while Chavistas accept that they cant cut corners regarding democracy and civil liberties.
Maduro is a useless apparatchik, and Capriles seems like a moderate.
Also crime and corruption has become epidemic under Chavez and I doubt Maduro can/will do anything about it, Capriles will probably be (slightly) better at this.
