when a 1-16 gets like this you have to go into watching the end of it with full knowledge that it will end the wrong way.

it's all the more painful when it happens on a run of bullsh**t low-percentage shots, as with Davidson/Marquette.

There goes my first Sweet 16 pick.  I had the Oklahoma State Cowboys advancing past Oregon and Saint Louis.  Instead, they advanced back to Stillwater...

I only have one bracket, on Microsoft Word.  I didn't sign up for any "Fantasy Bracket" or anything like that.  I'm waiting for Fantasy Baseball. Smiley

How is everyone's bracket so far?  After nearly exploding at the hands of Davidson, my bracket has stabilized and I have only lost one Sweet 16 team (Oklahoma State) and have lost no Elite 8 teams, yet.  I'm going with all the higher seeds in the last four tonight (CSU, VCU, SYR, UNM).

I've got two teams who I project making it to the Sweet 16 playing right now, VCU and New Mexico.

Harvard taking up the #14 making-a-run mantle from Davidson earlier in the day.  up four at half despite being -4 in turnover differential

I've got UNM as a Sweet 16 team knocking off Arizona in the 3rd round and losing to Ohio State in the Sweet 16.  I've only lost one Sweet 16 team today, but I don't want to make it two.  Let's pick it up, Lobos!!!

this is why I always have had an aversion to getting heavily involved in the bracket thing, it leads to a perversion of the experience, where perceived and selfish self-interest trumps justice and Beauty.  case-in-point: at a high school party in '06 everyone was actively rooting for tourney favorite #1 Connecticut as upstart #16 Albany took a 50-38 lead early in the second half.

Shoot Shoot Shoot. I forgot to join the group.

So far, a decent day. My only mistakes are Oregon over Okie State, Memphis over St. Mary's, and Harvard over New Mexico. My Sweet 16 remains in place.

Thirteen out of sixteen so far. Got Pitt, New Mexico and UNLV wrong but that seems common. Didn't have any of them moving past the next round anyway. Balling.

12/16. Had Missouri over Colorado St., Belmont over Arizona, UNM over Harvard, and UNLV over Cal.

I went 12/16 on Thursday.  I missed Oklahoma State, Pittsburgh, Bucknell, and New Mexico.  I still have 14 teams alive in my Sweet 16 bracket and all 8 in my Elite 8.

My picks today are:

Duke - (losing in Rd of 32 to Cincinnati)
Wisconsin - losing in Rd of 32 to Kansas State
North Carolina State - losing in Elite 8 to Marquette
Miami - losing in Sweet 16 to Marquette
Cincinnati - losing in Sweet 16 to Michigan State
Kansas State - losing in Elite 8 to Ohio State
Colorado - losing in Rd of 32 to Miami
Georgetown - losing in Elite 8 to Kansas
Ohio State - winning National Championship
Villanova - losing in Rd of 32 to Kansas
Florida - losing in Sweet 16 to Georgetown
Oklahoma - losing in Rd of 32 to Georgetown
Iowa State - losing in Rd of 32 to Ohio State
Kansas - losing in Final 4 to Marquette
UCLA - losing in Rd of 32 to Florida

What's wrong with rooting for favorites instead of underdogs?  Unless I actively dislike the team, I'd rather see the teams who are actually good play in the later rounds.

Yes, this is true. The same problem exists in fantasy sports.
