...Middle-aged people are about evenly split D and R, and that shows in their politicians. The hazard for the Republican Party is that it has lost the current young adults. I look at all the young Obama supporters who have learned how to do politics and who are already setting up social networks for political purposes. Few will become Republicans. Many will get involved in politics, and they won't get involved as Republicans (at least with the current ideology of the GOP).  Now what does the GOP offer?

Fact. Women LOVE the Golden Girls. He needs to compare the Dems to something less beloved by Democrats.

Hillary Clinton probably has higher approval ratings in Kentuky than McConnell. Just for fun she should say she is willing run against him in 2014. That will scare the living sh*t out him.

This.

Seriously, much of the complaining about Hillary's age is pure sexism.  If 69 was was not too old for St. Ronald, it won't be too old for Hillary.  The Republicans are the ones who nominated a 73-year-old in 1996 and a 72-year-old in 2008.

Favorability, not approval.  Clinton doesn't have a job right now, so she doesn't have a job approval rating.

Classic analogy! I think an actual rerun would be slightly more annoying but it's pretty close.

Surely, the gop cant bridge gender gap if hillary runs, so picking on age. So, jeb and roomey who are in their 60s arent too old because they are gop candidates.

The swipe at The Golden Girls was potentially offensive to gay men as well. Two birds with one stone!

All McConnell did is up Hillary's chances of winning the gay male and senior female vote.  No wonder she released her marriage equality video when she did.

McConnell is like a rerun of "One Foot in the Grave," so I don't know what he is rambling about anyway.

He's right. Most of the country would vote for Hillary Clinton, and most of the country would tune in for a Golden Girls reunion if all the gals were still around.

Rerun of Golden Girls would be pretty popular, I think, Mitch.

Ah the Golden Girls. As a foreigner I always found it quite interesting how such a relatively prude country had a major tv show that revolved around old people having sex (with Rue McClanahan apparently sucking off half of South Florida).

I've never understood the appeal of Golden Girls to gay men.

Perhaps we respect women instead of viewing them as sexual objects.  The Golden Girls are actually good-looking themselves, but too many straight men view women as only useful when they're young and dumb.

I didn't say that it was the only reason; it's part of it, though.  If you're not gay, I don't see how you can know.

We are aware sex exists but we prefer to segregate our lives into subtle and sometimes not so subtle innuendo and porn.  I personally have no problems with sex and nudity but I don't need to be sitting on the couch with my mother watching a TV program at 8pm and have boobs in my face.  The older I get the more I think of it in the same way as gratuitous gun fire and explosions.  It's just indicative of a lack of creativity on the part of content creators.

You got me on the not being gay thing.

Ab Fab is another sitcom that is popular with gay men (I think it's quite funny whereas Golden Girls--meh) and I think it would be a stretch to call Patsy and Edina smart, independent yes, but definitely not smart.
