Steele would be great. I think J.C. Watts might've done a genuinely good job with minority-outreach though. He's sincere and like able.

Someone else; I voted for Steele since I have no idea who a better candidate could be.

Priebus is better with money (at least in a nominal sense). Steele's better at winning.

I agree with Clinton1996, J.C. Watts would probably be a very good RNC head. Preibus has been an utter disaster, and basically did what Tim Kaine did for the democrats: lose while raising large large sums of money. Michael Steele won, but 2010 had a lot going for it and I don't think he would be so lucky in an even neutral year because, frankly, he's kind of a goofball. What the Republicans need is a Howard Dean: someone who will emphasize growing the base, someone who will go to every single state. Right now they have a Tim Kaine.

I think the RNC turned on Steele prematurely. He did an excellent job with the Republicans in 2010. I also think Steele comes across as a pretty nice guy all things considered.

Whomever will run the party completely into the ground and further into the clutches of the far-right. My vote thus goes to Michele Bachmann or Ted Cruz.

I was undecided about whether or not to specify in the question that this was not what I meant by who would do a better job.

Maybe I should have just asked, "Who would better help the GOP stop being such a hot mess?"

I'm kind of partial to JC Watts (he used to be my Congressman).  So, I will choose Someone Else.  But, the real answer is anybody but Priebus.

Well in that case, David Frum.

Whether or not you agree with him or not, it's really is quite something that the RNC would throw out Michael Steele after such a successful election.

I don't know.  Steele was such a target for Democrats that he probably would not have been a good choice.  However, he might have helped more with minority outreach.

True, there's nothing hot about the mess that was the Bush administration.

Except the hot coals that America's Military were walking on in two wars.
