Sinclair will fight the communists abroad and bring civil rights and prosperity at home!

All the Eisenhower voters seem to be getting out early, don't they? And Cath referred to Wallace as Sinclair's SoS when he was VP, so minor edit there.

It might be a good refresher to have an island of blue in the sea of red and yellow.

Early polling shows 64% Eisenhower, 29% Sinclair, and 7% Hass. What shall come next? Have the Republicans exhausted all their votes early? Here's hoping!

And let's have the left rally around Sinclair! This is our hardest fight yet!

Now it's 52% Eisenhower, 40% Sinclair, 4% Kefauver, 4% Hass! The race is tightening!

48% Eisenhower, 44% Sinclair, nobody seems to give a damn about Kefauver or Hass.

Not-so-secret left-wing meeting for the future: What do you guys think about having JFK in 1960 with Humphrey as his VP, then Humphrey 'til 1972, then Eugene McCarthy 'til 1980, then Ted Kennedy. Would that not be amazing?

And Sinclair '52, then Hoopes or Hoan '56. We can have the Democrats shift leftward and assimilate the Socialists.

Except McCarthy.  He'd be terrible.

All right, McGovern. We can hash this out later.

I think you know who I'll be voting for in 1972 and 1976, Alfred Wink

Zombie Thomas Jefferson isn't that palatable to the general electorate, Ben. Those Democrats really hate the Zombie Party for some reason.

Vote Democratic...the symbolism of a pro Civil Rights Southerner is more important than just about anything at this time.

If the Socialists can appreciate that, the party will likely have moderated enough to be worth another look in the future.

Oh, I appreciate the symbolism, I just don't think it's fair to deny Upton his second term. Kefauver can have his turn in 1956.

Better idea; we'll stick with the Socialists, have Sinclair win this election, then Hoan from 56-64, then A. Philip Randolph from 64-72, then elect Bayard Rustin Atlamerica's first gay president in 1972. Then we can have Anderson from 80-88 for some ideological diversity. Harold Stassen can finally get his chance from 88-96, followed by the four-term presidency of Ralph Nader from 96-2012.

We've got to compromise somewhere, Drj (or is it Dr. J?). The minute we start nominating nobodies, the party dies. Hoan and Hoopes are the last even somewhat big names left, and I'd like to see the Socialists off on a high note before the Great Democratic Hegemony begins.

Maybe, but this TL has a way of surprising us. The Great Democratic Hegemony has always seemed to be just around the corner (accompanied by The Inevitable Socialist Decline), but then it doesn't come. So idk when it finally will, if ever.  ¯\(°_o)/¯

Yeah, but after the 50s they just became a bunch of civil rights activists, and while I'd be fine with A. Philip Randolph, wouldn't Humphrey be at least as good? Also, Hoopes in '56 was the RL Socialists' last candidate.

Yes! Presuming Cathdawg voted for Eisenhower. I'm really looking forward to the map to see which southern states we won after Voting rights act.

Did Sinclair do that?

EDIT: Wait, yes he did. Black people would probably vote heavily Socialist, seeing as (as has been mentioned earlier) the Socialist Party was basically just civil rights activists after the '50s.

I don't think it'll go to the House. Didn't Al Smith win outright with 43% of the vote?

To be fair, he may be a relative neophyte; I myself, for example, have only been really following this since 1840.
