So, Steve King will seek the US senate.
65-35 chance for Democrats to hold this seat I would say. King could try to moderate himself!

I think it's unlikely King runs. The GOPs Plan A (Latham) and Plan B (Reynolds) aren't running. Who's plan C?

The farm team I mentioned in another thread, most likely SOS Matt Schultz or former US Attorney Matt Whittaker.

Bob Van Der Platz could make a run at it as well, though it goes without saying that the party will not support his bid..

I can't recall if Northey's taken himself out. Matt Whitaker has said he will run if/when King declines, and he's certainly no pushover, but Schultz has more electoral experience and Mark Jacobs would be able to self-fund (Jacobs reminds me a lot of Ron Johnson -- I think he'd be quite a strong candidate).

Isn't Van Der Platz to the right of King?

King's a mini-Tancredo. BVP is a Santorum-type.

In other words both are bats*** crazy and if either ones wins the nomination the seat is safe for the Dems
