Possibly Nancy Pelosi. He recently stated the country could move forward better if Pelosi held a higher position like Speaker again or even the VP. Plus she's very left-wing and is one of the highest supporters of minority rights out there that's high up in the government.

If this happened around 2015, his main focus would probably be on foreign policy, so maybe he'd nominate Madeleine Albright. That'd be fierce.

Would Anti-nepotism laws applied if he picked Michelle?

I don't think the Pres & VP can be residents of the same state.  That's the reason Cheney changed his residence from Texas back to Wyoming.

Tim Kaine. Obama originally wanted Kaine as VP.

Hillary might be offered the spot.

But it's probably likeliest to go to an experienced caretaker. Leon Panetta would be one possibility, due to his impressive resume, and the low chances he'll run in 2016.

I wouldn't see the spot going to Kerry, due to the need for a new confirmation hearing for SOS.

Evan Bayh would possibly run in 2016, which would go against the interests of anyone who wants someone else to be a presidential candidate. So it likely wouldn't be him.

There could be similar concerns with Ken Salazar, although there would be a politically useful milestone.

Kathleen Sebelius would be slightly more logical, as a way to inspire more women to support the Democratic party in the off-year elections.

Tim Kaine. Obama originally wanted Kaine as VP.
Kaine was one of the two runner-ups along with Evan Bayh.

I doubt it would be Kaine since this would allow the Republican Governor to appoint a replacement. And there would likely be a special election at some point. In those, the demographics favor Republicans, who also seem to have a stronger bench in the state.

That's only in elections.

Electors are not allowed to support a Presidential candidate and a Vice-Presidential candidate from the same state.

Technically, a party could run candidates from the same state. It could lead to complications in a close election.

According to all later relations, the final decision was between Biden and Bayh, so Kaine was eliminated in a semifinal. Only these three were actually considered by Obama campaign. Other vetted possibilities were reserve choices or, like Chet Edwards, just added to please somebody (in his case Pelosi).

I can believe Obama personally wanted Kaine. After all, Kaine was his early supporter, as opposed to Biden waging his own campaign and Bayh positioning himself as Hillary's VP. I expected Kaine to be selected.

The thought we were that close from having Evan The Useless as Vice President is depressing. Fortunately, he's done Smiley

If you do some reading on the subject you'll see that Obama wanted Kaine but he was too inexperienced thus why he lost out. Now he would be perfect.

She's not eligible.
