When I get in my lawyer mode, I do sometimes act like a stereotypical lawyer, to wit I have sharp elbows. The trick of course is to know when to use honey, and when to use venom, or sometimes a combination of the two. One must put one's own emotions aside, and remember that the play is the thing, with you playing but a role. The very best lawyers I think combine their expertise with a talent at performance artistry.
