So have you missed the repeated airing of the bomb ripping through the crowd that CNN has played over and over again? Of the bloodied people running from the smoke? Should CNN have cut away when the World Trade Center collapsed on live TV, when every person watching knew thousands of people were still inside?

I am not advocating people posting these images persay, I am just disputing why they should not be allowed.

Graphic being missing limbs, dead bodies, etc. No one considers clouds of smoke or burning buildings "graphic."

Well, in that case.. why are we even discussing this here?  Surely there are other, better sites for national tragedies... I guess once you've seen the insides of someone you love as they nearly go mad from the pain.... you take offense when people try to censor this.  You think the people near the bomb got a ToS compliant view of the tragedy?  

When people like you defend people like Al about rules and regulations in situations like this.. it does nothing but breed resentment and make light of the situation.  "Oh, it was a tragedy.. but I just can't stomach seeing body parts!  I'm so terribly weak.. and you know!  Rules and regulations!"

There is a time and a place, indeed.

Snowguy, relax man.  What is to be gained from gore here on this board?  I don't see how posting peoples guts are going to make anyone feel anything useful or gain deeper insight into this tragedy.  The Leip wanted this board free from that type and wanted it school and office safe. Ive seen the early pics that are far worse than what was linked to. It is just gruesome stuff and really traumatic.  Maybe the younger folks are already jaded- but I don't think this sites owner wants kids stumbling on that here.

When it comes to graphic images, I think a link with a warning without the image itself is fine. Banning them altogether is not right, but neither is posting them without warning.

Things like the dog were just pointless of course.

Posting graphic pictures shouldn't be allowed, and hasn't been allowed before.  But (at least in my memory), we've never barred links to graphic pictures (or links to "language" or links to pornography) as long as some type of warning is given.

Completely unrelated to the similar discussion taking place here, I've found the constant loop of a video blowing people up to be repulsive and in severely poor taste. It's something I really care a lot about and have been appalled by today. It's sensationalist, disrespectful, shallow, ignorant, and cheap. I truly hate it and am disgusted by it. Our national media is nothing short of a disgrace. It's almost as bad as the raging boner they still have for seeing those planes blast the twin towers ad infinitum.

It was for that reason that I didn't spend much time watching MSNBC earlier. Once I got the gist of the situation and the ensuing info that came in 45 minutes after it happened, there wasn't anything new but people playing the same clip on loop the entire time.
