Following a bruising Democratic primary, Virginia Senator Scott was victorious in the Democratic nomination. Expected to select someone from the liberal wing of the party after the primary against Sen. Warren, he instead selected Gov. Miles, a conservative Democrat from Louisiana. Shocked, Senator Antonio of California announces his third-party run as a Socialist candidate, and selects Governor TNF of Kentucky as his running mate. The Republicans, meanwhile, have selected Rep. Goldwater of Washington to head their ticket, with Gov. Jerry of Arkansas added for geographic and ideological diversity. Americans Elect gets their act together, and backed by major donors such as Bloomberg and Schultz, fields former New York Senator Nix and former Indiana Senator HPJ as a well-funded independent ticket.

Sen. Scott (D-VA)/Gov. Miles (D-LA): 140 EVs, 32.4% of the PV
Sen. Nix (I-NY)/Sen. HPJ (I-IN): 137 EVs, 22.8% of the PV
Rep. Goldwater (R-WA)/Gov. Jerry (R-AR): 134 EVs, 26.6% of the PV
Sen. Antonio (S-CA)/Gov. TNF (S-KY): 127 EVs, 18.2% of the PV

The Republicans largely maintain the Republican states, though losing several to other parties. The Democrats pick up several southern states, but lose much of the north to the Socialists or independents - a stand in the Rust Belt is all that saves them from utter catastrophe. The independents pick up much of the north, as well as very divided states that let them win with fractions of the vote - they also do well throughout the west. The Socialists do well in the far-left states, but also pick up some of the Rust Belt and Appalachia due to Gov. TNF's selection.

The election goes to the House, which deadlocks. Gov. Miles is chosen by the Senate and serves as President-elect until the House finally selects Sen. Nix in a compromise vote.

Kentucky Senator TNF upsets everyone with a surprise victory in the Democratic primaries, despite or maybe thanks to his outspoken populist rhetoric and his pledge to defend the working class and fight the moneyed elites. At the DNC, he picks his former rival, Governor Scott from Connecticut, in order to appease the moderate wing of his party. However, this is not enough to avoid a rift in the party, with Moderate Democratic Senator Averroes from New York leaving the party and running on his own. He picks another disgruntled Democrat, Miles from Louisiana, as his running mate, in the hopes to build inroads in the South. On the Republican side, things go much more smoothly, with Arkansas Governor Jerry easily cruising to nomination, and attempting to appeal to moderate-libertarian voters to the North by picking Goldwater as his running mate. However, the GOP ticket is challenged by a very strong Libertarian ticket, headed by SJoyce and with HPJ as his Veep.

The campaign is a very chaotic ones, with four very different perspectives emerging. TNF starts from very low, but manages to regain ground, especially by doing very well in the Rust Belt, and retain a strong grip on the Northeast with Scott's help. Jerry, while remaining very strong in the Deep South, sees its support in the West and in Swing States erode under the combined attack of SJoyce and Averroes, who runs on a centrist and "bipartisan" campaign. SJoyce's strength comes from socially liberal States of the West and he manages to narrowly carry his home State. Averroes and Miles build a heterodox coalition made of suburban voters, rural midwesterners, and socially liberal moderates. However, they do not achieve the breakthrough some had hoped for.

Senator TNF (D-KY)/Governor Scott (D-CT): 28%, 205 EVs
Governor Jerry (R-AR)/State SoS Goldwater (R-WA): 34%, 176 EVs
Senator Averroes (I-NY)/Fmr. Senator Miles (I-LA): 23%, 98 EVs
Congressman SJoyce (L-FL)/Congressman HPJ (L-IN): 15%, 59 EVs

In the House, the Republican caucus holds solid to hand the Presidency to Jerry, who is seen as legitimate due to his victory in the Popular Vote (only a few republicans defected to Averroes or TNF). In the Senate however, negotiations are very tense in the Democratic caucus between the Averroes and TNF camps. In the end, Scott emerges as a good compromise candidate, being a Northerner balancing Jerry's southern background, as well as being moderate but unambiguously left-wing.

Sen. SJoyce (Federalist - Florida) / Gov. Goldwater (Federalist - Washington): 200
Gov. Tony (Labor - California) / Gov. TNF (Labor - Kentucky): 195
Sen. Nix (Liberal - New York) / Rep. HPJ (Liberal - Indiana): 65
Gov. Scott (Light - Connecticut) / Sen. Miles (Light - Louisiana): 78

The House, controlled by the Federalists, votes in SJoyce as President.

I would make a map, but I have no idea how to work the color coding. Tongue

You don't have to. Just go to the "number of independents" menu in the EVC and select 2 or 3. Wink

Goldwater (Federalist - WA)/ HPJ (IN): 48.8% 366 EV.

Miles (Labour - LA)/ TNF (KY): 15.0% 3 EV.

Averroes (Liberal - NY)/ SJoyce (FL): 31.1% 164 EV.

Tony (Independent - CA)/ Wyoden (WY): 4.1% 0 EV.

Unpledged (N/A - NE): N/A 5 EV.

The left wing vote split results in an easy landslide for Goldwater. Three left wing parties of varying strength and a united right wing party combined with first past the post can only end in disaster for the divided force. (Nebraska is unpledged as I couldn't colour it yellow, bad times).

The number of posts that have been here could make this confusing, so I'll list everybody that need to be in the next map, in order of when they posted:

1. Nix
2. HPJ
3. Miles
4. Sjoyce
5. Goldwater
6. Antonio
7. TNF
8. Supersonic

I decided to try to make it was close to a 4 way tie as possible, so it might not be the most realistic map. But at least it's interesting. Tongue

Governor Scott (D-CT) / Senator Miles (D-LA) - 151 EVs
Governor Goldwater (R-WA) / Governor Supersonic (R-TN) -  140 EVs
Senator HPJ (I-IN) / Governor Sjovce (I-FL) - 129 EVs
Senator TNF (S-KY) / Senator Antonio (S-CA) - 118 EVs

The election goes to Congress, where the House elects Goldwater to be president President and the Senate elects Miles to be Vice President.
